Different cultures have different school systems. I find that really interestng. Of course, my love for Social Studies makes me want to learn all about everybodies cultures here. But would asking be too rude? I mean, a lot of you are listing English, German, French. Are those language courses? There are so many languages I'd like to know. I'm currently studying Spanish and Italian. I'd love to learn some Latin,. German and French.
Basically, I'm a nerd that can't get enough school. Dang! Now everybodies inspired me to write!
Title? Mmmm...Cultures of today....I wonder if these guys at Psypoke will like it...

There are two kind of English I learn English Language and English Literature (I already speak English so it's mostly Literacy but I do learn fancy words now and then). French and German are both languages that I learn. I'm better at German and find it easier.
German: Es gibt zwei Art des Englisches ich lerne englische englische Sprachliteratur (ich spreche bereits Englisch, so ist das gr

Over here, studying English is the equivalent of studying a foreign language, like German or French, in an English speaking country. Except over here, we start learning English from the 3rd grade. It's studied as a second language here, and there is also an option in most schools to study Arabic as a third language. English is mandatory, though.

Every year either at the end or the beginning of the school year this thread gets popular, so I'm taking it as alright for reviving it.
This year I had 7th grade, my classes were:
Math
Science
English
Spanish
Technology
Music
Gym
Social Studies
And with the conclusion with this year, I now know I am accepted in Honors English, and hopefully advanced Science which is Biology. I do plan on taking Spanish all the way to college also.
Next year I have to take Art and Home and Careers which I believe is in place of last years Tech and Music.
Final Exams!
For Norwich Middle School today we took the Math and Social Studies exms, and I believe I aced both, recieving at least a 95 on both. Tomorrow we have Language and Science. I know the science one will be toguh, our teacher guaranteed us it would take all the time provided.
So how about you all?

ahhh 7th grade...those were the days. now i dont get any sleep any more and tomorrow's my LAST FINAL EXAM OF THE 10th GRADE WHOOPEE! ye and its french so it should be simple...200 multiple choice questions i think in 2 hours. anyway, my courses for this year:
~Pre-Calculus Honors (ye my teacher told me that i had to get a 50% on my finals in order to get a 100% final avg grade...god i love xtra credit).
~French III Honors (once a friday per month, we watch a movie in french and get 1 xtra credit point for every 35 french words we write down. i usually get around 150 words per movie. quizzes are worth 10 points).
~U.S. History Honors (a lot of propaganda there, eh? lol ye we went from puritans all the way to civil war and reconstruction...next years AP uh oh ).
~Chemistry Honors (now i usually enjoy science, but this year we had a very bizarre teacher who held a special fondness for moles).
~American Literature Honors (eng was pretty good this year. we did hawthorne, melville, emerson, thoreau, robert frost, emily dickinson, whitman, hemingway, etc.)
~Band (same old same old. i play the saxophone).
~Journalism (this one was painful. it started at 7:15 in the morning. the class was easy, but this is one of the reasons i dont get enough sleep).
ah and good luck to u truestar in biology. that was one of my favorite classes ever...mainly b/c we had a really good teacher who made the bio SAT IIs a breeze. i think around 5 ppl in our school (including me) who went to her study sessions got 800s on the bio SATs. if u have any questions on the subject, feel free to ask, i guess.

I'm only in Secondary school (Middle school to you Americans) and I'm not even going there at the moment because I sort of got expelled from there for being a arsehole. I'm a clever person according to them, but I'm too disruptive.

pokemaster! Keep going with German! You are lucky, you have no idea how much our school system sucks since all we can learn is French and SDpanish, and some Latin. I would love to learn German and more, keep going I encourage you!

wow highest in the whole grade congrats
i got my final exam results too...pretty but not so fly...
~Pre-Calc - 100
~French III - 97
~US History - 92
~Chemistry - 94
~American Lit. - 97
all my final averages for the year were above 100% for every class (thank God for extra credit) so that kinda redeems any mistakes on the finals
i dunno if any other high school has this but the reason that i always get more than 100% final avgs is b/c we get 5% added on to our final grade in any honors classes we take. so the highest gpa would be 4.5

You get 5% added? Cool...our accelerated classes don't get any extra points. AP classes are a grade point higher (normally an A is 4.0, a B 3.0, etc.): an A is 5.0, a B 4.0...so we could SUPPOSEDLY get a 5.0, but it never happens (because of normal classes).

My schedule? Well...
1. Band
2. Choir
3. Spanish
4. English (Advanced)
5. History
6. Science
7. Math
My favourite is Choir and my least favourite is Math. As to Spanish, I'd rather take German, but that is not an option.

Last year of school, fun times to be had. I've gotten through 1 week so far, sooo...
● Periods 1 and 2: Off
Hooray for off-periods. I can sleep for at least another hour, then get up, surf the internet for a while, then pick up my stuff and go to school.
● Period 3: English IV
I consider it the first period of the day. For the first time ever, the teacher hasn't been a old woman intent on making our experience in the class a living h*ll. So far we have done absolutely nothing but name her fish (we named it Pedro, by the way) and listen to stories about her family (they aren't bad ).
● Period 4: Technology Systems
This is a continuation of the class I took last year. The class is filled with freshmen (youngest kids in the school, for you non-Americans) with a few of the older guys like me. All we've done is watch a couple videos and talk about what's going to happen.
● Period 5: Architectural Graphics
A very fancy term for drafting. My arm hurts
● Period 5 1/2: Lunch
Yaaaaaaaay for lunch. Problem is, the guy I usually sit with during lunch has a different lunch from me, so I'm left alone. This usually means I get food, find a spot to sit (which will change every day), eat, then go outside until the end of the period.
● Period 6: Psychology
Smallest. Class. EVER. There's me, two other guys, and 5 girls, two of which transfered into the class yesterday. Really quiet too.
● Period 7: Government
The one subject I have been dreading since I started high school. This course tends to be the reason why a lot of people don't graduate in the year they were supposed to, for two reasons: 1) You can't take it until your last year of school and 2) It's not easy. As far as this class goes, everyone has said the teacher I ended up getting for this course is really strict and not exactly the most friendly sort of person....Anyway, so far I have had no problems, it's all been notes about what exactly constitutes a nation-state, along with a bit of discussion on things (freedom of speech for one). Nothing too bad.
● After School
For now, I just wait outside for about 30 minutes until the traffic dies down, then go out to my car, open the door (which will let out some of the hot air), get in, and drive off, cursing at everything because the steering wheel is really hot. The cursing will happen less as it gets cooler later in the year.

Over here we have the exact same class. We learn about what makes a country, different types of democracy, and then Israel-specific things, like the history of the major political parties, the political map, how the senate is built and how it works, how the election system works, various laws, the constitution, the decleration of independence... Like your class, this class over here is considered to be the hardest one, and has the lowest national grade average on the Final exams. It's mandatory, you can't choose not to learn it. Luckily, this class is taken in the 11th grade and not the 12th (last), so you still have another year to make it up if you fail the first time. Not meaning to brag, but I passed with flying colours - I got 90 on the Final exam, and a 94 average for the entire year.
