Like when only R/B/Y was out? It's hard to think about back then. Was there only the one forum about that generation, and did ya'll make a big deal about gold/silver coming out as we are now about the p/d pokemon?

That's the PsyPoke I remember.. Glory Days of the chats and forums. I think the site is actually better now than back then, however. Still, that's classic PsyPoke up there.

I'm not sure who the mods were. One thing I am curious about is if anyone remembers what was going on at the forums? Were we moving to another forum or something? I only ask because I found this on page 2:

I don't remember what time had come, but obviously I knew 4 years ago... It wasn't me leaving the forums, cause I only did that on the CoolBoard.. Perhaps we made the switch to the next EZboard at that time...

[EDIT] Look at me! I can read the rest of the posts on the page! Yeah, we were moving to the newest EZboard, which I believe was the Pre-Tom EZboard, but maybe I'm wrong.....

I don't remember the mods for the first forum, or if there even were any. That was WAY too long ago, people, like six freaking years.

Coolboard, the second message board, I remember more clearly. There was only one moderator to start with, I think his name was PokemonExpert or PokemonHunter, and he was a Pokemon hater that didn't really help clean up spam or anything. Hence we would get flooded with pages of "MISTY'S BREASTS AND VULVA" topics by Milky. Something like that; again, that was well over five years ago.

Circa May 2000, PokemonHunter (or whoever) was ousted and Abra K. introduced four new mods for the Coolboard. He listened to the suggestions of the users of the forums to make the mods, so it was little more than a popularity contest that made the new mods. The new mods were JesseTR, Bulbasaur, spyderqueen, all three long gone from this community, and JamesTR - myself. A little later a fifth mod was added in the form of Deadeyedave, and for whatever reason he later became one of the original Elite Four. When Dave became an E4 with Nova, Kirbster and darkmind, Wolfbane was made the fifth moderator.

Since then, both the moderation team and the administrators have undergone dramatic roster changes as people joined and left and resigned and such.

As I remember the Coolboard was split into three forums; a general Pokemon discussion (this included the anime and the video games, as well as general discussion), a CCG/TCG forum, and I think a fanarts forum? I don't remember; the third forum was something insignificant.

Gold and Silver were definitely the big topics of the day, most of us had Japanese ROMs of the new games and we were all eagerly talking about them on the forums.

Oh yeah, and the site basically sucked back then.

These were the forums:
1. Some weird thing. Obscurely remembered by even the veterans.
2. Coolboard. Most popular Pokemon forum on the site; eventually moved to Ezboard, Coolboard went under soon after.
3. Ezboard #1. Still exists today, abandoned when psypokes.com was created.
4. UBB #1. First UBB. Croaked.
5. UBB #2. Second UBB, at this point psypoke.com and psypokes.com had both failed and we couldn't use the UBB anymore.
6. Ezboard #2. Darkest days of PsyPoke; no site, little traffic, veterans leaving left and right.
7. UBB #3. PsyPoke.org UBB, site reborn with darkmind/Amphy/TK/Frost E4.
8. Weird vboard thing. Used after axpi died, transitional board as we looked for a new host.
9. phpBB. What you're using right now. We're settled peacefully on Gamespy's servers right now and we shouldn't need to change boards for a good long while.

Sounds like you guys had an interesting past with the forums. The forums I came from changed dramatically as well. At first, it was a forum that had about 30,000 posts, then the forum changed its name and had a makeover. Now, it has over 800,000 posts. It might be more, but someone hacked the forum at one time so the post total went down a lot. It's at about 500,000 now.

It seems everyone did immature/stupid things when they joined, I was also immature in my first one (7th forum I think), I still remember the stupid fight with the Sunny Day/Rain Dance thing, wish I could forget it though.

I'm sure alot of old members on here will remember World Order's Rating Center and papersun and Kasiya's Rating Center from the 7th board.

OMG the memories, Yeah like Frost said the first board was all that great, very hard to navigate through. One of those forums that has the map of replies, you click the thread then you see the first reply then the map of who replied to who.

It's crazy i was able to log on to that ezboarder, that and when i was clicking though topics i didnt need to look at the poster name I allready new who it was. It kinda sucked that in the 'cutest psypoke' thread most of the pictures didnt work (damn free webhost) but I didnt really need to see them again I remeber how all you guys (and old vets that arent around) still looked like. But there were a few links that worked, like mine, Spiderqueen and one of our current E4 (i still havent seen that gun pic, I saw jesseTR's gun pic though)

Back when I used to serch the net for a good pokemon website, I actully came across psypoke and passed it right up.

I can remember it was psypoke because of the banners and pictures you guys used.

Yeah, well, the Chronicles sucked anyway. Not the authors or even what they wrote, but just the whole idea.

I remember the first time I visited Psypoke was when I was in an internet cafe (since I had no internet for my home computer yet) and Abra K posted pictures of the two new eevee evolutions for the upcoming pokemon game! !
When I finally got the internet at home and registered on the coolboard I remember thinking that JamesTR and JesseTR were the mighty gods (admins) of the boards since their posts were everywhere and everybody seemed to love them. I made two weak topics before we moved to the EZboard. Don't worry TCM, I remember that a quite a few members (who are still around today) were infamously labelled as spammers on those boards. Fortunately (most) of us grew out of it.
The EZboard, if I remember correctly, was very important since the Elite 4 at the time had the bright idea of setting up a chatroom inside the forum for the Psypokes to use exclusively called #psypoke. This was important since it seperated those that used the site frequently to those that didn't and still hung around in the 'official' chatroom of #psypoke.
My first time upon entering #psypoke I met wigglytuff7777 and ampharos111, and little did I know that in a few years these two would be running the site. I think I got this right, if not I'm sure Frost can correct me, since he seems to have an unnaturally good memory
