Post subject:  A Tribute to A Fallen Person

I hope that I do not regret posting this topic - I would not like to see any negativity about this tragic event at all!

As all of you may be aware, I am a Star Trek fan, and just recently, James Doohan who played 'Scotty' as the original Enterprise's engineer under commanding officer 'James T. Kirk' (William Shatner) has died due to pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease.

I for one would like to say a few words on Scotty's behalf:

"He was a great actor - he played the part of being a chief engineer extremely well. He will be missed by all Star Trek fans, just like Gene Roddenberry was missed when he passed away in 1991 at the age of 70. Wherever you are now James, know that your achievements and dedication to the Star Trek universe will not be forgotten. We'll forever remember the man who took part in the famous line, 'Beam me up Scotty'. We will deeply miss you!"

Here's a link for James' short biography as well as his time in the army:

I hope all of you out there can offer your condolences...

I've never seen Star Track, but the death of someone is enough to feel sympathy. It's a sad thing when someone you love or deeply enjoyed leaves, but I like to think we'll see them again.

Looks like God decided to "beam up" James Doohan. I always enjoyed the older Star Trek episodes, and it is sad to see "Scotty" go. In fact it is also sad to see all the other old Star Trek actors dying, but hey life goes on.

I'm not a fan of the original series, but was a decent actor and performed well on a guest appearance of The Next Generation and the film Generations. A great loss.

Great News from Space (Canadian Rogers Cable Channel 50)!

Space Salutes James Doohan (1920-2005) and is going to honor him by showing a Star Trek marathon with our favourite James Doohan episodes tomorrow (Saturday July 30th, 2005) from 11:00 am EST to 5:00 pm EST.

Don't miss out on this great chance to see James Doohan at his best!

Scotty: "I had a wee bout, but Dr. McCoy pulled me through."

Kirk: "A wee bout of what?"

McCoy: "Shore leave."

He will be missed indeed.
