Please join me in praying for the victims of September 11th, 2001.

I've written a poem, and I hope you like it.

We all know what happened that day.
It's so shocking, there's nothing to say.
There's so much mourning, so much pain.
So much crying that it's like rain.
A fire lighting in the sky,
It's so big, the birds can't fly.
So much crying, so much pain.
Just pray.
It's all we can do.
Now.

I hope you liked it. I'll be praying for the victims of the 11th. I hope you are too.

Aw, it's not THAT good. I'm just hoping that others will pray for the lost too. even if they're not religious.

I'm not super religious, but I do pray everyday, and what you have done here, Latis, is awesome. It was really nice of you to make a thread about this! *cries* I'm definitely gonna pray for 'em...

I was in choir a few years ago, and we sang a song dedicated to those who lost their lives in the event. It was mainly for the firemen who ran into the Empire State Building trying to help when the building collapse on them. I don

I will never forget the event nor the victems of the event. As many of the older members know I used to go to High School about 5 blocks away from the WTC, and infact I saw everything out of my classroom window (was daydreaming at the time). Thoughts running through my head was "are they filming a movie?" 1 second after the explosion i felt and heard it and then my thought was "Ohh Sh**, a plane hit the tower, its not a movie". It was just the most akward feeling looking at the tower and seeing a giant hole punched in the side and fire surounding it. After a few minutes of mass confusion, the teacher was like please ignore the accident and one of my classmates as like I can't ignore it my mother works there. After gathering our attention to try to calm us down I see another low flying plane but this one turn as if it was trying to hit the tower on porpuse and then you can hear and feel the explosion again this one much stronger then the last. Its around this time they dismised us all.

Couldn't take the subway home cuase they stopped service, busses were overloaded so i had to walk from the brooklyn bridge (school is right next to it) all the way to 103rd, and the school was under the number streets so it was more then 100 blocks away. I remember walking and got to D street and turning back and still able to see the towers, continue to work listing to the radio on my cell phone, and trying to call but the network was down (on top of tower A was a major cell tower and all the other cell towers were getting overloaded) so while listing on the radio i learned there was another plane that was 'missing' and that the pentagon was hit also. I get to 14th street and I turn around part of one tower has fallen, thought was "OMG how strange its going to be to see part of the tower broken" as i walked a few more blocks i was able to see that tower collapse completly and again "OMG how strange its going to be seeing one tower" as I continue to walk I can no longer see the tower, not because it fell also but because i was too far. I was able to find a payphone that worked so i called my aunt at work (it was a toll free number) and let her know that i was safe.

I will never forget that day and the days and images that followed, its burned into my memory. My aunt and uncles (2) are Police officers so they had to go down to ground zero almost every day for about 6 months. I didnt go to school for about 3 weeks because it was being used by the city.

My thoughts and prayers allways goes out to the victems everyday I dont need a 'date' to remind me.

I think you meant The World Trade Center or Twin Towers, as the empire state building was about 40 blocks away from the incedent.

Yeah, today is my brother's friend's birthday. Kind of awkward, yes?

Well, anyway, how about we post where we were when you heard about September 11th. I was in Math class, bored to tears, when the vice principal came on the PA telling about it. Most people were kind of... "huh?" The teachers weren't allowed to turn the TVs on with students in the room, so nobody knew too much. It was just... wow...

Prayers to anyone who lost anyone during that horrible tragedy...

I found out a day or 2 later readin a newsletter from school that said something like we are not sure how to tell are children about the horrific events of september 11th, some want to educate their children of it, others want to keep the information as far away from the children as they can..." I don't know why but I remember that part really well and then late on it said about what happened. And if they're not religous why would they pray? but the victims and their families are always in my prayers.

I'm not very religious, and I probably won't pray, but I will bow my head and think of what happened that day, and I'll remember exactly what I was doing that day, at that hour, at that minute, and my reaction when I heard of the disaster and terorist acts. I shed my tears already. :/

I was in H.S. Foundations, when we turned on Channel One and they announced it. It was soooo wierd, no one believed it... until later, everyone was in a huge upheaval about it. I was kind of scared, then they anounced about the Pentagon... It was really scary.
Darkkend, I'm sorry about what you went through on that day.
My prayers will definitely go out to those that were killed and the families, as well as those who witnessed the event.

I was in 5th grade, just sitting there in class and suddenly the principal came and took our teacher outside of the room and was talking to him for a long time. We thought nothing of it. Then he comes in and gives us these pink slips that say "There have been three terrorist attacks" and go on to explain what happened. I was sort of shocked cuz most of the class didn't even know what a terrorist was. So we had a long discussion about it, then we had to go on with school. I remember going out for recess and one kid was screaming "WE'RE ALL GONNA FREAKING DIE" and us in a group talking about what could happen and stuff. It was scary. It was all we talked about for the rest of the day...

I'm not religous, but I will keep those victims in my mind...

(Before I go off on a rant I wouldlike to point out that i'm English and was in England at the time, and so was not there in person to witness the horrific events of that day)

I remember that day well, we did get told at school, that there was terrorist attacks, but didn't think anything of it, that was until I got home. we watched the whole thing unfold on the tv.

I got home just after the first plane struck and my mum was watching the news coverage and almost straight after I got in the secod plane struck i was like "Holy Cr@p. I went out to play football with one of my brothers and my grandad called me in and said that the towers were collaping so we watch as the second went down. And all of this happened on my brothers birthday, which was ruined by ungrateful terrorists.

When I went on a School trip in October '04 to Iceland and New York we went to ground zero and I was amazed by the sheer scale of destruction there.

P.S. nice poem

Ground zero was cleaned up quick, around when you went to vist it was a clean hole in the ground with ramps, now 3 year before that it was hard choatic, to see all the carnage, actaully not everyone could see it october of '01 the area was still shut down and a 20 block radius.

what I meant was how big the area was that was affected by the collapsing towers not what i saw in the hole at the time, hopes that clears up the mis-understanding. :)

I get what you mean now, yeah the 'foot hole' of the tower is massive and eriee to beliave thats were they wore. I say i was close being about 5 blocks away, but which is scarier was that across the street there was another highschool pretty small of about 500 students but still across the street, they werent dismissed till about half an hour after the towers were strucked any longer and they probably wouldn't have made it.

Only reason i know is that the school i went to housed them until it was safe for them to go back to there school, and i Befreinded a few of them at night school (some schools in the city offered Night classes to make up grades from around 6-9pm up to 3 classes)
