Yeah yeah I'm sure you're sick of me well XP to you. XD Anyway, this is Thorn...from my Starter Experiment thread and well I drew her in a different outfit than she usually wears.

It's a sketch and I wanted you guys to see it before it possibly got ruined when I try to ink it. *shrugs* it happens. So that would be why the pencil is pretty light. Soooooo tell me what you think?

Okay, I'll let you guys be the judge of this. Personally I tend to hate all my drawings in color, and that's no different here...Sooooo I edited it to be in black and white also. I greatly dislike both but I like the black and white one more. Perhaps someone could help me figure out a better way to highlight, because that's what I REALLY hate about these?

I agree, highlighting is very tedious. But the way I color my artwork is by deleting all the white on the outline layer, creating layers for every single color I use, and then locking the pixels so that when I go to add shading and such, it still looks very neat.

Too highlight, I sometime use the airbrush tool, and then the smudge tool to alter the shapes to my liking.

But anyway, your picture looks great. Colors are a bit flat, but that just means you'll probably need to invest more time in it.

Unfortunately my Photoshop doesn't have an airbrush tool. I deleted the white like you suggested, and I tried doing layers. A lot of practice is probably necessary.

I'm thinking of doing shading with my pen, cross hatching and such. So I may just like that better.

I call it the airbrush tool, but it's actually called the brush tool, but you can adjust the hardness to get a nicer blend of colors.

Layers are a deeefinite must for colouring, it's next to impossible to get good soft shading without 'em :D Try setting your inking layer to "multiply", that should effectively make the white parts transparent for all the layers below it, so it's usually easier than deleting all the white, especially if you're still learning to ink.
