Prologue
Falcon was eight years old. He was a smart boy, always caring for other people. He was loved by everyone in Viridian City, even the local gym leader, Giovanni at the time, now a boy named Gary Oak, had occasional battles with him at his house. Falcon loved the water, and every weekend he would go out swimming with his best friend, his pokemon, Manaphy. When he was four years old, his parents had given him a pokemon egg for his birthday. Falcon was taught to care for the egg. A few weeks later, it hatched, yielding a baby Manaphy. That was Falcon's first pokemon, and it wasn't to be his last.
Falcon had told his parents that when he turned 13, he wanted to go on his own adventure, and that he wanted to be the pokemon league champion. However, that dream was cut short. One night, Falcon's parents had gone out to a dinner party at the gym, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the City. Falcon and Manaphy didn't mind. They liked it when his parents went out.
It was getting late, and Falcon was becoming worried. His parents never stayed out this late. Falcon figured that the party was still going on, and that his mom had probably run into one of here friends. His mom had a habit of talking a lot to people she knew. A few hours later, somewhere around midnight, a loud knock came from the door. Falcon opened it, and his dad came stumbling through the open door way, red blood pouring from his shoulder.
"Father, what happened?" Falcon said, not knowing what was going on. "Close the door, lock it." His father replied, breathing heavily. Falcon did as he was told. "Where's mother?" he asked, tears beginning to form in his eyes. "Listen to me, you need to be strong, no matter what happens, your mother's dead, she..." Aloud bang came from the door, "Listen, here is a key" He said pulling out a silver key from his pocket. "Th...This key, unlocks a door inside of the storage house. You need to get there and..." Another loud bang from the door. "You need to get there as fast as you can, do not come back here, you have to run, don't stop, no matter what, just keep running!" Yet another loud bang came from the door, this time, splinters began to appear, and cracks in the wood. "Go now." "But, father..." "GO!"
Falcon ran through the back door of his house, grabbing Manaphy's poke ball as he went, and made a beeline for the storage house, a quarter of a mile from where he lived. As he was running, he heard two gun shots from where he had just left. He wanted to stop, he wanted to sit down and cry, he wanted to go back, but his father’s words echoed in his mind, and he kept running.
He finally reached the storage house. He had only been here once before, and had never been inside. He inserted the key and turned. With a tiny *click*, the door opened, and inside was a lone, single poke ball. Falcon picked it up and stared at it. It was not like any poke ball he had seen before, it was almost stone colored, and had what appeared to be the letter K engraved on the top of it. Falcon wondered why his father sent him to retrieve this, and was about to release what ever pokemon was inside when a man in a black cloak appeared behind him. Falcon turned around to face the being.
"Are you the man who killed my father?" Falcon asked, mustering up all the courage he could. The man stood there, silent, but only for a moment. "No." he replied. "You must leave this place, it is not safe for you." the black cloaked man said. He continued "There are people here who will kill you, if they were given the chance, and we cannot allow that."
"So are you going to take me then?" Falcon asked, trying to keep up his courage. "No. I am offering you a choice. If you come with me, you will live. Only death awaits you here." The cloaked man replied. Falcon thought about it for a moment. "Can I bring my Manaphy?" Falcon questioned. "You may." The cloaked man replied.
And so Falcon left with him, vanishing into the deep dark of the night.
