Emotionless...the romance story of the good thief Matthew and the eerie morph Limstella...

This story takes place on the continent of Elibe, in the realm of Fire Emblem.

Prologue: Fateful Decision

As a thief, Matthew had a knack for getting into slippery situations. But this time, he had landed himself into a position where he was trapped with no easy escape.

His mission was to obtain information of Nergal and his eerie morphs at a castle, but he had blundered and was now surrounded. A small army of morphs were headed his way, lead by the Nergal's right hand morph, Limstella.

I've little time to think of an escape plan...and I'm not up to fighting a legion of morphs...drat... Matthew murmured some curses to himself as he fumbled down the dark castle hallways. He came across several doors, but all were locked. And for the first time in his life, he didn't have his lockpick on him. Double drat...

Before Matthew could breathe another breath, the sounds of the morphs' footsteps came nearer. Matthew ran as fast as he could. But in no time flat, he came to a dead end.

No! Matthew shook his head frantically. There has to be...I can't... But when he looked up, he smiled a wide grin when he saw a bright light shining through thin glass. Bingo.

Matthew scampered up the stone wall and smashed the window open with his elbow, which then began to bleed. Not the worst...I could be sliced to bits by morphs back there instead.

He leapt out the window, and landed on an unstable brigde that hung over a deep lake. "Whoa..." said a shaky Matthew. "Better keep my..."

But before Matthew could finish his sentence, morphs began leaping out of the same window and onto the same shaky bridge. The bridge was beginning to give under all the weight.

"Yikes!" yelled Matthew. "Gotta get off before I fall..." Matthew got a short running start and lept out to the stone walkway at the end of the bridge. He just made it as the entire wooden bridge fell down to the cold, deep lake. All the morphs drowned instantly.

"Guess they can't swim..." laughed Matthew.

He turned his head to continue down the stone pathway and get out of the area, when out of nowhere Limstella appeared.

"!!" Matthew's eyes grew big out of surprise. Forgot that she could teleport...damn...I'm cooked...

"You are not to escape alive, human." commanded Limstella in a monotone, serious voice. "You will die before you even feel the pain I will inflict..." Limstella's hands began to shine with crackling lightning, and she charged at Matthew.

Matthew swept to the right, and evaded her by a hair. Limstella didn't notice that Matthew was standing on the edge of the stone walkway, and she fell tumbling into the watery depths.

Matthew stared in amazement. "Did I really evade that attack? Or am I dead and just seeing what would have happened after I died...?"

Matthew then heard a scream of terror from the water below. Limstella's arms were flailing in a frenzy, trying to keep her afloat. Like all other morphs, she didn't know how to swim. "I...feel...sadness...but it is not real..." she cried.

She.......has emotions...? I...I feel...like I'm killing an innocent...but she's...ahh... Matthew didn't think about it a second more. He dove head first into the cold, dark water below.
