"Well, that's somewhat concerning", I said to myself.

The boy had been performing incredible acrobatics from one roof to the other until I spotted a... dragon? Poorly constructed, I could do better then that. Just to reassure myself, I became a terrifying beast that took up a large section of the roof upon which I currently perched. Foot long fangs complimented a long, scaly muzzle. Slitted eyes menacingly watched from atop a musceled neck, which attached to a crimson torso. The dragons wings were immense and feathery, while sharp claws sprouted from the powerful legs that supported me. A spiky tail gave the final touch to my disguise, ending in forked blades. Perfect.

I decided that this wasn't the time for this, however, as the roof began to crack and cave in. Perhaps a crow would be a little more suitable. I changed and flew away without looking back at the crashing sound behind me.

I figured this other djinni was worth looking into. What are the chances of two djinnis that happened to be in the same deserted area of time at the same time? Trying to be optimistic, I hoped that my master had simply sent me to an all djinni party. Or I would think that, if I were an idiot.

At the scene of my discovery, something I didn't quite expect greeted me. Not one, but two magicians were strolling down this alley, while a beggar lay in an unceremonial heap behind them. I saw the djinni from before, in the form of a mud bird. On the seventh plane, this djinni looked very familiar, though it's name escaped me.

There was no possible way that all of these odd people were here by simple coincidence. Several ideas ran through my head, none really fitting, when I remembered my master's words: "There may be some people there that are of some interest to me." Before I'd left, he'd told me to report to him and tell him all that I had seen. So these people were my mission. Except that dirty beggar. He's the only thing in this scene that makes sense.

Jakob suddenly realised what he'd said, and tried to fix the problem desperately, "uh, you'll be safe too, of course. My. uh, djinn is capable of protecting the both of us of course. Though I don't know if it's shield would cover us both. Uh, not to imply anything of course!" Oh god, I'm screwing this up so badly.

Jakob let go of Andraa suddenly, feeling embarassed, and it started to rain. Again. Trying to change the topic, he said, "ah, the weather in this city is horrible! Why don't we magicians just get some Djinn to make it stop? Serrevia, get us some cover!"

Jakob turned and looked at Serrevia. "You're the Djinn, you should know what to do! Just become a... hovering round thing or something, and hurry up, we're getting wet!"

Jakob sighed and said, "finally! We're soaked, dry us up." He pointed to the few spots of rain on his shirt. Suddenly his arms felt very strange, they were comfortable around Andraa's shoulders, but he didn't want to embarass himself further. He let his arms hand down by his sides heavily, trying to look relaxed.

David, completely out of character with his disguise. Had ran towards where he had seen Jakob. Once he spotted him, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and was about to throw it.

"No more Jakob, no more djinn threat and I can go home." However, it started raining.

"Crap, this'll mess up my aim. Lucky him has a stupid djinn to keep him covered, I hate djinns. I guess that I'll need to get closer."

David began moving again, slowly this time and staying in character of his disguise. If he ran like before, they'd certainly hear splashing in the puddles.

If I can just move in a little closer... I was hoping to find out exactly who this other djinni was, though I didn't want to give away my presence. I was a spider now, being drenched by this sudden rain, and was slowly descending down one of the buildings walls. If this demon even glanced around once and checked all of the planes, well, something tells me there would be a fight.

I had reached the floor now, become a rat, and was moving slowly towards the group, hiding behind any shelter I could find. The male magician was talking now, and I could barely supress a fit of laughter: this guy was making a complete fool of himself, stuttering over words, and turning redder then a sunburned imp. Or at least, what I could see was. He wore a mask which covered a large portion of his face, and which I guess was just for dramatic appearance. Magicians. Even the least competent ones have to look flashy to the commoners.

While I studied him, I had failed to see a rock that had come across my path, tripped, and rolled my furry body right into a stray can. And with my luck, it rolled into a wall with a sound just loud enough to reach the ears of, oh, I don't know, a djinni? I cursed and hoped it hadn't been noticed through the noise of the rain.

In the past 3 seconds, David's heart rate had gone from a resting heart rate, to an oh-my-god-the-djinn-is-going-to-discover-you-and-kill-you-get-the-f***-out-of-there heart rate, and back to resting.

"God. Damn. Rats." David said as his breathing slowly steadied. Then a thought came in to his head. Jakob's djinn isn't at his side, his guard has been dropped. Now's the chance of a lifetime.

He whipped out a knife and threw it as quickly as he could and watched as it flew towards the magician's throat.

Jakob didn't know what to do, as he couldn't just push Andraa away. "You saved my life! You runied my shirt, but you saved my life!" Jakob smiled and shouted to Serrevia, "don't let the beggar get away, I'll want to talk to him!"

(I've never read this trilogy, could you explain what a detination is and does please.)

David said five curse words as he saw the knife miss Jakob; one of them he made up. With a detination behind him he couldn't escape the djinn that was heading right at him.

He gulped. I have no choice. I've never tried absorbing the energy of a djinn but it's either that or death. Under his coat, he slipped on one of his gauntlets and braced himself for what he was about to do.

((A detonation - basically like a Shadow Ball. A ball or blast of energy that destroys differently depending on it's strength.))

Quickly sprouting a long, flexible tail to hold on to the rat, Serrevia dived at the beggar, intending to grab him for Jakob to interrogate.

This was all happening very fast, and since I was startled to begin with, I didn't catch on very fast. The rat shook itself, realized it was flying through the air, and decided on the best plan.

I had made this rat with surprisingly long teeth, and rats aren't exactly the smallest rodent. Opening my mouth wide, I bit down hard, let go, decided this wasn't enough, and tried again. Rinse. Repeat. I had to have been doing some damage, as there were now multiple pairs of deep holes in the djinnis tail.

Stupid can.

How could I let myself be captured so easily. I tried transforming into a porcupine.

This was quite a predicament. I was completely stuck. I couldn't hurt the djinni anymore, and it would be difficult to expand my shape anymore, so I decided my best option was to turn into something very small and wriggle out, then become something very fast to get away. This was incredibly risky, since I could be squished, and getting squished isn't something on my "Things I want to do today" list. But what else was I gonna do?

I quickly became an average fly and started moving fast.
