well that sucks for the older people that put the time in to post. probably the worst update ever. i understand the testing forum because other sites have it the same way...but yeah.....

I just have a question out of mere curiosity. What is the purpose of disabling the post counts?

Well, in A&C, I can see the point of disabling posts, because there are games where replies are like so:

P(oster)1: X?
P2: no
P1: Y?
P2: no
P1: Z?
P2: yes

and the process repeats itself.

well thats mostly the newbies and those people that lost there pos count!

Post counts mean less then nothing.

None of those forums promote any form of intelligent discussion. Roleplaying is fun, but it is by far the farthest from intelligent discussion out of all of them (only because lintaro has topics that start as intelligent but end up stupid).

If it was my decision, I'd take out FanArt and FanFiction, too. And maybe even Help and Viridian Forest.

So stop complaining, this is one step closer in what it should be: being ranked for intelligent posts. No, not every post in the excluded forums will be intelligent, but those forums promote them a lot more than the ones that had their post counts disabled did.

I agree with everyone so far that has said to disable ranks and post count completely, I mean who really cares, except for the idiots that thinks a certain number makes you amazing.

How much longer until this thread gets locked? I think I can lock it, but I don't want to step on any toes.

Why did I do this? Because, you should not be getting credit for posts in the lintaro forum, nor should you get credit for advertising your own site. Someone already explained why A&C got the same treatment, and they hit the nail on the head. Slateport got it because it's similar to A&C: "i can has mew avatar?" "here u avatar" "ok thanxx" repeat ad nauseum.

Role Playing I actually put a lot of thought into. When we originally created that forum, it was brought up that we really should disable post count in it, but we didn't have the MOD at the time and didn't go about installing it. I believe the Role Playing forum definitely promotes good, lengthy, creative posts, I really do, and I value that.

However, the RP forum has a TERRIBLE habit of turning into one of two things:
1) You have two RPers posting back and forth for pages on end; it's a PM on display for the public.
2) You have 7 RPers. One of them posts, then immediately goes to the chatroom/PM page and pesters at the other six to post a reply. The result is a 37 page topic in less than an hour. That's not what RPing is supposed to be either.

This was all done with the intention of promoting more active DISCUSSIONS rather than quick replies in these forums. You may not agree with my actions, but I assure you I've acted according to what I believe to be the best, and though I was the one that installed the MOD, I consulted with the staff who were available at the time before I acted, and it was agreed that this was for the best.

Alternatively, I was also told to do two other things. I was given the suggestion to just remove post count altogether. I think there is a relatively easy way I could have done that. I believe someone also said that, as long as the forums were closed, I might as well just wipe them clean.

This isn't the end of the world, people. Life will go on, and by this time next month, you won't even care about any of this any more.
