There have been several attempts to make Battle League - a Gyms/Elite Four using competitive pokemon.

With the AI provided on ShoddyBattle, I could create a Battle League minigame there. I wonder if it would be a good idea.

It would be possible to make the game based on a single ShoddyBattle bot client, with users PMing the name of the gym they want to challenge (or progressing in order). The same client could store info on all challengers on a computer, and be run as an executable Jar file.


If so, details would need to be worked out:

- Elite Four would be theme teams, such as Sandstorm, etc.

- Champion would be a standard competitive team.

- # of Gyms, and # of Gyms a challenger needs to beat to advance to the Elite Four
1. 8 Gyms, as in the games
2. 17 Gyms (1 of each type), with challengers required to defeat 8 of their choice
3. 17 Gyms, with challengers required to defeat all

- whether or not to have a required order for the gyms

- Possibly forcing challengers to use the same team of 6 Pokemon species for the entire challenge to increase the difficulty

- Reaction to a loss to a Gym and/or Elite Four
1. continue challenge at the Gym indefinitely
2. have a limited # of continues
3. Force challengers to restart at the beginning

- Ubers are banned

- standard clauses

Note: I have not started work on this project, except for studying the source code for ShoddyBattle.
