Why is Wobbufet in the Uber tier, its seems like there is plenty to do to counter him |

It's because of its ability, being able to trap your oppenent is pretty useful. Otherwise, it's not that good. |

this is why: Wobby @ lefties shadow tag -encore -mirror coat -counter -destiny bond switch in, encore, and pick either mirror coat or counter. then, if times get rough, use destiny bond and its all said and done. dont underestimate Wobby, he's a powerful ally... but you're right, he can be countered easily. use Taunt, and he's stuck. i read somewhere around here that Wobby is being tested in the OU tier, but im not sure as to how thats going. |

Post subject: | Re: Wobbufet |
Wobbuffet was tested in OU a few months ago and he got kicked right back out. His ability means he has no counters and that he would centralize the tier to a point where Pokemon would be carrying moves like Toxic just to have a chance to deal with Wobbuffet. Save me the Taunt or the Physical Ghost/Special Dark stuff. If Wobbuffet's player senses trouble (or if Wobbuffet gets Taunted), Wobbuffet can be switched out to little ill effect. The opponent of Wobbuffet, on the other hand, is stuck against him until Wobbuffet leaves the field. And, no, Arena Trap is not in the same league as Shadow Tag. |

But really at most wobby would only be able to take down one pokemon, then you send in something like DDTar and set up and theres nothing they can do about it Another question, Why is Deoxys-S in OU? |

Wait, I heard that Counter and Mirror Coat aren't stopped by Taunt. |

Wilesthegreat wrote: But really at most wobby would only be able to take down one pokemon, then you send in something like DDTar and set up and theres nothing they can do about it Uh, yeah. That's the problem. Wobbuffet takes down at least one Pokemon a match and it's extremely hard to prevent it from doing this. And it's not like "Wobbuffet kills something, and then it rolls over and dies." If something comes in as a revenge counter and Wobbuffet has trouble handling it, he can switch out, get Wish support, and come back in and do the same thing later. It's back in Ubers for good reason. Deoxys-S got a test period at the same time Wobbuffet did, and Smogon members deemed it as acceptable for OU... for a couple of months at least. Smogon is testing banning Deoxys-S yet again, along with Garchomp, at the moment. Compared to other Ubers, Deoxys-S didn't seem like it would be that much of a threat in OU at first glance; but, as he eased into the metagame, people started to realize that he could fill many roles, and now he's again a suspect. |

But still, if a majority of your pokemon have stat uppers then really wobbufet is just a free power up |

Post subject: | Re: Wobbufet |
No, it's not. Wobbuffet can easily Encore its opponents after they use Dragon Dance/Swords Dance/Nasty Plot/whatever and then the Wobbuffet player gets a free switch to something that can maul the current opponent. At this point, the opponent's choice is either to switch out, nullifying the stat boosts anyway, or to attempt to ride out the Encore against something that can easily kill his or her Pokemon. Wobbuffet doesn't get hurt in such a scenario at all. Wobbuffet is a very predictable Pokemon, but it's also extremely hard to stop it from playing its strengths. |

can you baton pass out of shadow tag? I think you can baton pass. Wobb's easy for me. :] Put him asleep, and go boom! I usually carry a sleeper. (Gengar, Darkrai, Breloom etc..) |

No one lets Wobby get slept and he usually has Aromatherapy/Heal Bell support. He picks his battles as he pleases. That's too much for this metagame, so he's banned. |

In order to take one out I use a two turn move like solar beam. |

The Pokemon Master wrote: In order to take one out I use a two turn move like solar beam. Using a two-turn move on Wobbuffet is one of the worst things you can do. The Wobbuffet user would know exactly which move to select on the next turn. |

That was only an example that could work in a double battle if you had your other pokemon use sunny day. |

Ah, okay. The Wobb user could still guess though. That's why they're so evil. x] |
