I was just curious...what is everyone here's opinion of database mods? Seeing at is essentially a different version, I like the idea myself.
(For clarification, database mods allow the person who runs a server to add moves, add/change traits, and make move combinations illegal within their server as they wish.)

I think ewwwww, especially in the hands of the wrong individuals, who might wanna give their slaking purepower or speed boost instead of truant, or who want their mewtwo to have tailglow... or... or... you get my point....
i wouldnt mind it so much if servers that made mods kept changelogs that could be accessed with a typed command, but half of em leave you on the river without a paddle and then get a hoot out of it when you try to use EQ on their electrode that they have given levitate... (then you get a double hoot when you beat em anyway, but its still a pain in the butt)...
i have not and probably will not make database mods on my server...

Ugh, mods. I can see situations where certain pokes should have recieved certain moves or abilities, but for the most part, I just think DB mods are for n00bs that can't work with what they've got.

Hmm... so that's how somebody had a Charizard that knew Tail Glow... I was watching a battle and somebody's Charizard used Tail Glow and about destroyed the opponent's whole team with Heat Wave... It must have been a database mod. I think it was Exploud's server.

Well, in the hands of the wrong person, db mods can get abused (i.e. Huge Power Slaking, Wonder Guard Sableye, etc.) But I was thinking more along the lines of reasonable mods (i.e. Meteor Mash Registeel, Megahorn Pinsir, Levitate Magneton). These can make for a fun alternate mode of battle imo.
But I do agree with Lynx about accessing the db change logs. They don't list all the modifications and are a pain to access.

I think it is horrible. I got absolutely owned by a guy with baton Pass Yanma and Pure Power and Swords Dance Blissey( ) and I think this is horrible and wrong. It means the admins can have a 1337-0 record with the users getting their @$$ wooped. Just think, Pure Power Slaking, Wonder Guard Sableye, Tail Glow Alakazam, Calm Mind Charizard, Iron Defense and Amnesia Shuckle and Magnet Pull Metagross are all the favorites off being used. If I ever found one of these.... AAARGH!!!!

Well, in response to Steiner, alot of those examples are extreme and nonsensical. Those are examples of people abusing database mods. However, database mods CAN be used in a way which changes the game without making any one Pokemon too broken. While Pokemon like Alakazam having Tail Glow and Swords Dance(O_O)/Pure Power Blissey doesn't make any sense, some db mods CAN be logical (Iron Defense Shuckle, Tail Glow Charizard, Flash Fire Entei) and as long as the server owner makes a page displaying the list of database mods, I think that it can be fair.

one BIG thing this thing is missing:
The host of the server can make pokemon + moves illegal. i.e. Softboiled + Blissey = illegal. Thus No one can have a soft boiled blissey.
In order for the DB Mod thing to be a success you would need a group of people to get together and determine what would be as broken as, say, Calm mind Zapdos.
