WELL. IT's been awhile. As promised a bazillion years ago, here is the application thread for the possible Gym League here.
To apply, fill out the following "application" :
Gym Theme: Put your team's theme here, whether it is a specific type (Fire team, Psychic team, etc), or a special theme (Starters team, Fossil team, etc).
Gym Battle Type: Choose Singles or Doubles for your battles. All your challengers will have to face you in your selected style.
Primary Team: List your 6 primary Pokemon, including their hold item. You do not have to list their moves. You are allowed to have one Pokemon on your team that does not fit your theme (i.e. Having a Ground type on a Flying team); this is your "wildcard Pokemon".
In addition, you are allowed to swap out one of your Pokemon each match for a replacement. You do not have to reveal your replacement Pokemon. However, the original Primary Pokemon must be replaced under your team's theme ruels: For example, if you have a water team, and you want to swap out your Blastoise, it must be replaced by another water Pokemon. Your wildcard cannot be replaced.
Team restrictions:
-Species Clause
-Item Clause
-Absolutely no Ubers allowed on your team.Oh wait, lol, Garchump Garchomp IS on Ubers! Silly me.
-Five Pokemon of theme type must be present during all battles
-------------------------------------------
Here's a a cleaner one to copy/paste:
Quote:
Gym Theme:
Gym Battle Type:
Primary Team:
------------------------------------------
OKAY. If any of this is confusing or I worded it stupidly, please let me know so I can change it. In regards to who will be getting the Elite 4 status, I will reveal that after we get 12 applicants. We will not start with a Champion; that comes after someone beats the Elite 4 for the first time.
Alrighty, I'm so sorry I didn't get this done sooner, but my personal life has gone through drastic changes in the past two months. Thankfully, I plan to stop bawwing about it and take care of this Unofficial League as I had promised.
==============================
5/2/10 EDIT
Glad to see this has continued progressing. Most of you already know I've pulled out of the project for now since I don't have a computer at my apartment to be efficiently involved, but I will still support it in whatever ways I can.
Here is the (I believe) most current list of Gym Leaders and their themes:
KOL40 - Shadow
Shina Taji - Fire
Cactuar - Johto Pokemon
Psychic_Espeon_16 - Water
/vXv\ - Sandstorm
Emin Jofit - The Color Blue
Lv. 100 Sceptile - Grass
Weavile Lord - Dark
Mektar - Good and Evil
MUNCHLAX - Flying
Ryder - Psychic
TheKid - Electric
If you guys need moderator assistance, you're free to PM me, but realize that I don't check up as frequently while I'm at my apartment. Good luck everyone, and have fun.

Garchomp is allowed??? REALLY?
Garchomp@(ice weaken berry)
SD
EQ
Fire fang/blast
Dragon Claw
After a single swords dance he can run through an entire team. Esp if sand is up.
Considering participation...but garchomp is rediculous.

Whoops! My tier list knowledge is very outdated, and I forgot that Garchump Garchomp is officially on Ubers now.
Sorry for that mishap; fixed it in my original post.

Gym Theme: Mirroring (only Pokemon with Transform and/or Mimic)
Gym Battle Type: Singles matches.
Primary Team: Ditto w/ Choice Scarf, Ditto w/ Quick Powder, Ditto w/ Leftovers, Ditto w/ Focus Sash, and maybe a Smeargle w/ Choice Band (obviously knows Transform and probably Mirror Move and Mimic).
My wildcard will be...decided real soon here. I think either Yanmega, Gardevoir, Jolteon, or my trusty Lucario.
This is COMPLETELY a gimmick Gym. I don't honestly think I'm going to blow people away with a team of Dittos, but I'm not the worst battler out there so I could definitely give someone a run for their money. Also, could I maybe have Mew on my team too if his only move is Transform, or is that still too powerful?
P.S. Don't judge me. I liek Ditto.

Alright, I'll abide by the rules. I guess just a Ditto, Smeargle, Sudowoodo with Mimic, Mr. Mime with Mimc, and a wildcard. Sad face.

I would like to officially put in my application for a Gym Leader Position
Gym Theme-Heavyweights (Pokes over 450lbs. No speed EVs. All offensive moves are physical)
Gym Battle Type-6vs6 Single
Primary Team
Snorlax@Chesto
Hariyama@Leftovers
Dragonite@Yache
Gyarados@Lum
Metagross@Occa
Steelix@Custap
EDIT: after trying a few battles I've decided to remove the "contact moves only". Just using solely physical is limiting enough.

I say we let him. No harm in it. I mean BOAH alone will destroy this team unscathed (seriously turn 1 substitute, focus punch will OHKO his entire team).

That was discussed in the original Battle League forum. It will take place over Wi-Fi if I remember correctly.

The one thing I didn't see written that seems typical of most gym leagues is the test battle requirement. Typically a test battle is required for all gym leader applicants to ensure gyms that are strong enough to provide a decent challenge (meaning no gyms that complete noobs can defeat easily).

As stated before me, this was already covered in the original discussion thread about this. Shoddy-only players need not apply.

Who are they going to face, me? Then everyone would be a gym leader instantly.

We could run my tournament and place the top 4 as gym leaders, as it seems everyone who applied here so far with is also participating. With those gym leaders+the organizers testing the confidence of the other gym leaders.

What I say we do is have selected battlers who haven't applied for a position, such as EvilPenguin and so on battle the wanna-be gym leaders with their teams they want to use, and the battler rates the wanna-be gym leader's performance and how they are rated determines if they get the job.
Of course there would be a rubric for this rating system of course.

Many theme based teams have difficulty defeating a standard OU team...you'd be surprised. For example, I once swept an entire 6 member Fire gym team with a single Mismagius. The tester only need be experienced enough to be able to rate an applicant's strategies by a rubric.

I agree with Sion about the testing part where battlers need to be experienced. Another suggestion I have is that we the applicants battle each other. One battle a wanna-be gym leader fights another one of us (say MasterChef vs me) he fights me with his gym team and I fight him with a standard OU team, after the battle I rate and pass or fail him.
Of course not all could do this I was thinking more along the lines of people that have consistently placed and did well in Psypoke Tournaments.

Argh, if we're having tests now I think I'm gonna get fired quickly. I'll keep training, but I may have to rethink my Gym's theme...oh well. And, Chef, the only problem I see with using your tournament as a Gym Leader appointing thingy is that we won't be using the same Pokemon for both things. Not one of my normal Pokemon is going into my Gym. That may just be me, but still.
P.S. I'll resubmit my application if I think of something better, but for now I'm sticking with my old theme. Also, has anyone decided if I could use all Dittos? Technically, Ditto is all species of Pokemon, so I'm not violating Species Clause...whatevs. R_R, if you could just say Yea or Nay, I'd be much obliged.

The point of a gym test is not to see how good your Pokemon that you plan to use are. It is too see how good your aptitude as a battler is and to see if you are good enough to be a gym leader.
Since Ditto is all species (which I don't think is though I could be wrong) then having two would break species clause since you have two of all species. Plus species clause means no two of the same Pokemon basically.
