I'd start with:

 (It's good to have choices)

 (strong bug and fighting type)
They're not really my favourites, but I like to have a bit of a challenge.

 - Excellent Gyro Ball user. Fire needs some love.
 - Yanmega is one of my favorites.
 - Dusknoir, see previous statement.
 - Flygon, Dragon w/STAB Earthquake & Ground immunity
- Jolteon covers Electric potential, Umbreon's a good choice, Glaceon is my favorite Ice-Type. I love and hate Eevee's 7 Evolution possibilities at the same time.

 - Pidgeot is cooler then Staraptor imo.

Reasons:
Magmar- Magmar = Epic. End of Story.
Krabby- Krabby evolves into the 2nd most pwnage Pokemon in the game.
Shinx- When it evolves into Luxray, you better run.
Cubone- Evolves into the most pwnage Pokemon out there.
Abra- May seem weak, but when it becomes Kadabra or Alazakam, watch out. I can and will make you pay.
Exeggcute- Who can resist the call of having an evolution with one of the highest special attacks in the game? Not me.
