There's some science to figuring the codes without the generator. It has something to do with Hex values. I tried to alter the Hex Values of my SOS Mail and get my AOK mail based on subtle differences in my past hex values of the SOS. The 8th figure I couldn't figure out, but by the time I went here and the website spat out the AOK code, everything I put down before was correct and the 8th figure was a "9".
I made myself a Hex Value chart so I won't need a generator for myself.

Last night I died 8 times in Wish Cave. I died twice and Kyogre got pwned by a Hitmontop's Triple Kick in a monster house, so Lombre had to go alone. Lombre only died 3 times in monster houses, the others were by Claydol or Grimer, etc. But I didn't need a generator...I kept the past SOS and AOK mails on index cards and by comparing subtle differences between about 7 figures, I was able to rescue myself 6 TIMES without the generator. (Hey, it was really unlucky, there were at least 4 monster houses.) But now Jirachi is mine! (If Kyogre was there i could have linked 4 Frustrations and with my Swift Swim OHKO'd Jirachi. Instead it was a 2HKO. Now I go to Joyous Tower to get Bulbasaur etc.

To make a long story short, Yeah me!

Mike Maue I meant on the way down. And usually it would only be two but I got unlucky because there were at least 5 out of 5 monster houses I died at. And Kyogre died before me. (What do you mean, never died? I don't believe you. How did you do it.)
The choices of wishes are (according to my guide):

Lots of money - All the money from Wish Cave.
Lots of items - All the items from Wish Cave.
More strength - An item to raise your stats.
Something good - A lvl 1 randomly chosen Pokemon that you don't have will join your rescue team, or your rescue rank will increase.
A Friend Area - A Friend Area you don't have.

And when you defeat Jirachi and your party has an open slot, it will say:
"Yes! Jirachi wants to join the rescue team!
Accept Jirachi as a new team member?"
Saying Yes gets him to join you. His friend area is Mount Moonview.
Saying No allows you to make a wish if you are holding the Wish Stone.

Put simply, either he joins you, or you make a wish, but not both.
I've been down to the bottom twice. Once for a wish ending up in a Bellossom wanting to join (failure wish), the second time to get Jirachi. Which I did. Now I have every legendary.
