I think the pearl-only fossil pokemon is a very good tank. |

what do you mean by "tank"? If it's what I think, then your best bet would be either Nidoking or Tyranitar. |

Tyranitar, Tank? Don't make me laugh. My chansey with Earthquake can beat them (If I had a chansey with Earthquake ). Rhyperior, Snorlax, and Blissey are widely considered to be good tanks. I'm sticking to Dusknoir as a toxi-tank, though. I heard Claydol was good. |

Blissey with earthquake can't beat Tyranatar, that's exaggerating a bit too much. It's important to note that blissey is a special sponge, that's different from a tank. Snorlax is closer, but right now Dusknoir looks like a winner. |

:x If it's high Def. and Sp. Def you're after, Shuckle has the highest Defense and Special Defense in the entire existence of Pokemon. If it's a tank you're after, I suggest Snorlax or something like that. :x |

Because Shuckle doesn't have a way of healing it's low hp efficiently enough. It's hps aren't high enough to use rest effectively without just chestoing it. A guy entered a tournament near me with a max defense ev shuckle and it lost Bad. It can be surfed, or eqed to death. |

Blissey is a Sponge, Rhyperior is a Wall. Snorlax is a good Tank but an annoying tank would have to be Shuckle with the right moveset. But if anything get a Cradily. Thats an Uber Tank with Recover and all. And if your into ubers, go for Lugia. |

Blissey has enough life, as well as Softboiled, to tank certain physical attacks. Not enough to make it tank a Tyranitar, but it can survive quite decently against something else. Great thing is, it can reach about 800 life.N ot as effectively as something else might. Snorlax is similar, but to a lesser extent. Shuckle is VERY interesting, I just noticed. Low everything except attack/spec attack. However, has power trick, to give it 230 attack - perfect to annihilate a toxitank. |

This is clever i'll admit but then your open to a horrible Defense spot and ontop of that you have a tough speed disadvantage leaving yourself open for an attack. |

Trick room with previous pokemon, if you want. Or Baton-pass some speed. Or, if taking on a spec. attack pokemon, you're safe. Otherwise, however... you don't stand a chance against a chansey with tackle. |

as in tank i mean a pokemon that can take hits from both physical and spec. and then if it has some ability to attack too, thatd be great. dusknoir seems the one, but metagross also looks like it can hurt hard. |

I would say Dusknoir or Bastiodon. Bastoidon is a really good tank and it's done very well on my team. |

Spiritomb is my tank of choice. With Lucario a good second. |

Clarify the terms. A tank is a Pokemon with high defensive stats and the ability to attack back for decent damage themselves. Their attacking powers can be achieved through stat modifiers like Curse. Snorlax, Spiritomb, Blissey, Milotic and Suicune are good examples of tanks because they all have high Defenses and/or HP combined with the power to inflict damage. In other words, a tank is heavily armored, slow and capable of inflicting a hurting on enemies. Pokemon tanks are similar. A wall is a Pokemon with high defensive stats but little offensive capability. Shuckle and Bastiodon are two of the biggest examples of walls because they have extremely high defenses and pitiful attack stats. In other words, you can attack a wall, but you won't really hurt it, and it can't attack you back. Like before, Pokemon walls are similar to this idea. |

Probopass is my tank. It has yet to faint. I use it to annoy with a stealth rock moveset. Toxi-Tanking is not a really good strategy, IMO, so I don't bother with Dusknoir if that's all it's good with. |

Shuckle is either a wall or a suicide bomber. Take your pick. |

If you were to focus some hp evs into shuckle, and maybe bring in a baton pass amnesia and iron defence from Gorebyss, then set up toxic, then start double teaming, and finally use rest when needed, otherwise strong attack like earthquake, or maybe wrap, but then you you be stuck wasting pp, and you will have a very annoying, and a very evil Shuckle. Trust me, these things take forever to kill. I personally am using a toxi-trapping Dusknoir, a special sponge Blissey, and a Rhyperior as a physical sponge (this I may replace with a Steelix though). |

Really Probopass or Bastiodon are great choices for both defenses on one poke, Blissey for Spec., Rhyperior for Def. Simple as that. |

yea but is dusknoir that good? it has no healing moves, therefore he dies in 1-2 hits, without being able to use his toxic/mean look |

Dusknoir uses Pain Split for his healing, I believe. |

snowball wrote: yea but is dusknoir that good? it has no healing moves, therefore he dies in 1-2 hits, without being able to use his toxic/mean look Dusknoir is a really powerful Toxi-Trapper and cant die in 1-2 hits. But Bastiodon has horrible typing even though it has good STAT's. |

If you want to try something a bit different, Vespiquen makes a very capable tank, having everything a tank needs: Good defensive stats a move that boosts those defensives (Defend order) a move that heals (Heal order) a way of killing the enemy while you defend and heal (toxic) Of course, there are better tanks than her, but if you want to go in a new direction she's pretty good. |
