Of course, you can trade any pokemon from any 4th Gen game to your Heart Gold game prior to obtaining the National Dex & also even evolve them as well unlike in the 3rd Gen games...& this goes in The HGSS Questions Thread on the same page as this topic is on for future reference, this & all questions, got it?... |

The only games where you couldn't are between FR/LG and R/S/E before you finished the Ruby/Sapphire sidequest in LG. Otherwise, trades have had no restrictions within games of the same generation. So, you're good! |
