In case you don't know, a clique is a small group of friends or a team that share interests and pressure each other (my def.)
At my school, I'm in a tiny group. It's only me, Symone, Angeleah, John, Eileen, Amber, and a few other people that sit with us, but aren't really friends.
We almost all love Pokemon and are really good battlers, most of us love to read, and are really nice (though Eileen is kinda mean, she's scared of me). We sit at a single six-seat table that the goths love to sit at. I hate them.
Other clans in my school:
Superpreps (love spreading rumors+lies, mean)
Preps (gossip a lot, act like their high)
Goths (dumbheads who sit at any open table and call people stuff you don't even want to hear)
Sports people (Kinda stupid, play sports like theyre goin out of style
Anime kids (Love anime and the like; nintendo things)
Hard gamers (Will not stop talking about video games)
And there are numerous other small clans that subsist of only a few people.
So, which group do you hang out with? You don't have to chose from this list.

I don't hang out in any "groups" at my school, although I do hang out with my friend and her freshmen friends alot. I used to hang out with the "gheto" people, but after my new friend moved to our town, I started hanging out with her instead

There's about three groups at our school.
Jocks/Cheerleaders
Dirtbags
Lunchbunchians
The jocks and cheerleaders makes about 40% of our school. They are generally snotty, and as you could guess play every sport there is.
The dirtbags are failing students, and as you ould guess: dirtbags. They are the ones who burp in your face, spit on you and all that junk. About 50% of our school has dirtbags.
And us Lunchbuncians. We are the brightest, and the smartest. A students, and generally the teachers favorites. It all started last year, when our Social Studies (w00t!) teacher told us about lunchbunch. So then at lunch bell we started hanging out in his room, listening to Classic Rock and Classical music, and eating our lunch. This past year we lost three lunchbunchians, and they switched to the jocks/cheerleaders. They started hanging out with them. But then one lunchbunchian just hasn't been coming, so she's more of a loner. She's a good friend of mine, but she never seems to make it.
I hate the other two groups. And those three ex-lunchbunchians don't give me any respect. But it doesn't bother me, I don't need them. They are nothing in my eyes. I can survive with my fellow lunchbunchians.

Meh, I don't really know what clique I belong in... I hang out with all sorts of people. At lunch, I hang out with the geeks, but at parties I hang out with normal or popular people. I'm friends with a bunch of really popular people, but I seldom hang out with them.
I guess I'm in the middle of it all.

I HATE popular people. Mainly cuz at my school they don't care about anything and act high all the time. A few like Tyler and Caitlyn, who are really funny and pleasant, i like. Other than that, I hate preps.
I also hate parties. Mainly cuz I hate dancing and trying to push through people to get to the food, which is the #1 reason I go. #2 reason: Music. I like Skating Parties, though.
P.S. My friend Symone told me to tell everyone she says "Hi." Don't ask. I don't know.

When I was in school, there were cliques or group of friends who spent time together. Most of them shared a common interest, and they had spent a number of years with eachother, which obviously generated a different relationship that one had with a friend then someone in another group. However, none of this drew definate lines between certain groups of people. Everyone generally respected everyone else, for the most part. It would have been harder to generate a relationship or "hangout" with people in another group, because in highschool kids had adjusted to a certain comfort zone. Students weren't often too shallow or arrogant to talk to others in school.
Don't get me wrong. Not everyone liked eachother, and there were fights. Some people were conceited, but I can only think of a handful of people who were. Generally, kids were respectful and courteous though. If a student hated another, typically he always hated someone else in their group more than anyone outside of the group. Familiarity breeds contempt.
It was tough for me to find a group (and I didn't (my best friend through highschool was my now gf but she had her own clique)), because I didn't want to pretend to be someone I knew I wasn't. I really shared a lot of interests from all the groups, so I had a lot of people to talk to in school, but spent a lot of time alone outside of school.

(to truestar & firepowell: are you two going to explode again like you did in fanfic? )
anyway,
I'm homeschooled so I'm not a expert on these things but:
i think you may have left out a few groups:
Runts: usualy small, weak, people. ALWAYS picked on/beat up by everybody. timmid, often shy and won't do anything to stop others from hurting them.
Hardcore: the weirdo's devoted to a film/book/show/band. I'd classafy myself here. I'm a major star wars fan. I have copyed pages from the essentiall guides and used them as posters for my room! my sister is more of a hardcore pokemon person than I am, but I LOVE the TCG so I classafy myself a starwars/Pokemon TCG Hardcore.

Ahh, this should be fun ^_^ In my year we have several groups, and I have named any of them that didn't name themselves.
Firstly, my group. We don't really have a name, but we could be the Reject Shop if we wanted ^_^ We're crazy, smart and we're looked down on by the "cool" kids - it's a fine life
The next group up in rank would be The Gang. Consisting of their black leader (I'm not being racist), they're a small group that still manages to have fun and be rebels. They're my second favorite group ^_^
After them would come the Drama Group. That's the group that has "cool" status, but still has their fair share of strange people and crazy people. 3/4 of their group do Drama outside of school, which is where they're name came from
Next up would come the M.H. I don't approve at all of their name, so I won't say it here. PM me if you wish to know what M.H. stands for. The way their group operates reminds me strongly of the Teams in the Pokemon games - they have a Leader, a second in command and a bunch of Grunts. Recently a member from our group has moved to their group officially - he's been with them unofficially for long enough to become an Admin, but now it's official
Just above the M.H. in rank would be the Lipgloss Gang. You know the sort - an all-girls group who like nothing better than to compare shades of lipgloss and read through Girlfriend and Dolly magazines
In equal first position for the "coolest" group in yr 10 are the D.R.A and the D.R.A. Male.
Originally the two were one group, and back in yr 7 they would always hang out in the Dark Room in the Art Department, which is where they got their name: Dark Room Assosciation. As their group grew, they split off into two groups - the D.R.A, with the "skanky" girls and their resident "gay", and the D.R.A. male with all the "tough" boys and their doof-doof music and rebellious natures ^_^
Other groups that don't really have ranks are the Breakoffs - three or four people who don't belong in any group and hang around together, being emo and goth-like, and the Nerds - i.e. two girls that don't fit in so sit with a group of yr 9 people
And that's a quick summary of the cliques in my yr!

Well I'm in 6th form now so the number of students is quite small compared to last year in yr. 11.
The 6th Form Groups {In Order Of Size}
The Rockers - The group I belong to, and the main group around. We mainly like to talk and have a good time, mainly playing jokes on each other. Kind of obvious what we listern to, but there are sub groups with the catagory, with the hardcore rockers at one end of the spectrum and at the other end is the psuedo-chav (the one's that are also into R'n'B and Hip-Hop), I would say that I'm somewhere in the middle, liking rock more than most R'n'B/Hip-Hop.
The Chavs/ Trendys - Had a strong presence in Year 11 but most left school to do other things, or more likely, not. These people, like I have said before are into R'n'B and Hip-Hop. Chavs are generally louder and make more trouble, while trendys are mainly female and are a close-knit commity of around 5-10 people.
The Miss-fits - the poeple who don't fit in to the the other groups because they have a different way of life really, more nomadic than other groups, mainly because they are the minority being upto 5 people in size. They are made up of people of vairying popularity and listern to all sorts of music, becuse of the people they consist of.

My school definatly has a few defined groups. There aren't any real names for them.
One group which I hang around with is the big group of people in my school that plays World of Warcraft. It's not like we talk about it much, more that it's just something that brings us together. We walk, we talk, we play video games. Most of the time we hang round town eating pork pies & sandwiches; talking about nothing in particular. Just generally really relaxed.
Although when I need a break from being relaxed I hang out with the punk rockers. Rude, obnoxious & sarcastic. It makes a nice break, although we still eat pork pies. We just talk about music, what's good, what's not, what should be burn & erased from the memory of all mankind... etc
The sporty girls. They play hockey, they play volleyball, they talk about hockey, they talk about volleyball. Quite nice people actually.
The sporty guys. They play rugby, they play football, they talk about rugby, they talk about football. Quite nice, but horrendously boring.
Chavers (aka Chavs/Townies to you people). Watch Devvo the Chav & you'll know what they are like. To be avoided at all cost. Freaking tossers.
The jokers. They think they are funny, but they just disrupt lessons with comments they think are funny, like "smells" when register is being called, or "cheese". These are tossers too.
The loosers. They hang around in the library & the computer rooms all day, everyday. Just so they can play Runescape. They are freaks. They think they are super-intelligent, although they turn awfully silent when I pull out a witty comment. They constantly have bags under their eyes from playing Runescape all night & not sleeping.
There used to be a bunch of goths too, but ever since compulsary education stopped they disappeared. They were weird, they wore black & listened to crap music. They were stupid, but at least they got on with the work. They were quite nice people when you talked to them, but they never had much to say.
Even though I don't particularly like some people in the group, I get along with everyone, because I'm like soooo totally popular.

Well in my school you have
Highest is the Jocks/GirlyGirls-Which is kinda' self-explanitory.
Second-We have the Clubbies who are the people in many different clubs.
Third-We have the normal people who aren't that cool, & aren't that hated.
Fourth-There are the W.B.P.K(Wanna-Be-Popualr-Kids)which is again self-explanitory.
Fifth-The Gay people-think they are the oppostie gender.
Sixth-The Nerds which are much hated by many people
Seventh-The rockers which is mostly Eighth Graders.I guess I'm sorta in that group
And then there's me.I make my own group with about 4 other friends.
We're sort of a heavy metal, crazy, all-out ,hated but liked(if you know what i mean), known by everyone but not popular, hates school, loves soccer, sorta people.
That a summary of the seven groups in my school +plus my group.

We obviously also have groups at school, but none of them are labelled or anything like that. And there are some people who are very borderline, and it would be mean of me to generalize. But, I'll do my best.
The most prominent group is the jocks. They are what you could call the "popular" kids. We don't have cheerleaders, though, but the girls who hang out with the jocks are the same kind of people the cheerleaders are. You know the type. Anyways, All they ever talk about is sports. Most of them do sports of some kind, and their favourite lesson is P.E., and they're all passionate about it and stuff. Their sports activities vary from being on the school basketball team to surfing on their free time, but it's basically the type of people who come to school wearing bathing suits as pants. I see them as very shallow people, who lack any interest in politics, sociology or philosophy, have very narrow horizons when it comes to culture (music, film, etc), and are also very snobbish, i.e. they'd never talk to me even if I wanted to talk to them (which, of course, I don't). Then again, there are exceptions. One of the kids in our clique, Lev, is the school champion in track running, high-jump and pull ups, but he hangs out with us, and not with the jocks. He's also extremely smart. On the other hand, one of the kids in the jocks clique, Orr, is a really cool guy who likes classic rock, likes movies and is a really smart guy. As I said, there are exceptions to every clique. The girl-boy ratio in this group is more boys than girls.
The second group in size is my group, and it almost rivals the jocks group in terms of size. Since the groups are nearly the same size, I wouldn't say that I'm not popular, because among my group I am popular, I'm just not popular among the jocks. Anyways, we are the "cool" group. We are extremely varied, and we have people of all shapes, sizes and interests. The one thing we have in common, though, is that we all have an extremely high awareness to such things as culture (music, movies, theatre, literature, etc) and also to politics and philosophy. Our tastes/opinions don't always match, but we all HAVE a taste in music or film, and we all HAVE political/philosophical opinions. Everybody in my group is very smart, and knowledgeable. When we hang out, we like to talk about movies, music, and stuff like that, or more "serious" subjects, like all sorts of philosophical stuff. Within this clique, there is also the "core group" of 6-8 people that I consistently go out with on Friday nights and stuff like that, but at school we're pretty much unified. I also consider our group the most open to the other cliques, it's them that close themselves off to us.
The third group is tied to the first group, except they're not jocks because they don't indulge in sport activities. What they have in common with the jocks, though, is that they are very shallow, lack cultural and social awareness, and are also very dumb. In class, these guys... they ask the stupidest questions. I just fail to understand how they're going to get along in life, if they can't grasp such simple concepts as the ones we learn in school.
Another group would be the art-kids. They all take art class, obviously. They're pretty cool, and I, along with lots of other people from my clique, talk to them frequently, but I don't hang out with them or consider them to be good friends of mine or anything like that. They're good people, though. Smart, knowledgeable, cool... they just don't hang out with us for some reason. I guess you could call them a parallel clique to ours.
There are what CF called the "lipgloss gang". It's a girl-only group. Their personalities are similar to the personalities of the girls who hang out with the jocks: shallow, snobbish, not very smart, lack social awareness, etc... Except they only hang out with other girls, and not with the jock boys.
The next group is the nerds. They're even more snobbish than the jocks, partially because they are a relatively small group. Nobody really likes them (and I mean no offense to any nerds around here), because when you talk to them, you really get the impression that they actually think that they're better than you, that their lives are more important than yours. It's sad. I also cringe when they start talking about video games and physics and stuff like that... I don't know why, though
Next group is the SUPER-nerds. These guys belong to one class, and that's the excellerated-learning class. They learn the same subjects that we learn, except at much higher levels. The only thing in life that's important to them is school, and this isn't an assumption - I occasionally talk to people from this group, and it's true. I also find them to be very narrow-minded. They're not very smart. They have high intelligence and lots of knowledge, but I can't talk to them about philosophy, or something like that. And in the culture department... I'd be surprised if they'd seen even ONE movie in their entire lives. They basically thrive in this bubble, completely seperated from everybody else. They don't even hang outside in recess, they just stay in their classroom. It's tragic.
Another group would be the Russians. I know it sounds racist, but it's true - the Russian immigrants all hang out with themselves. The Russians split into two groups. One is a boy-only group, and they mainly talk about violence. The other is a girl-only group, and they mainly talk about boob jobs and makeup.
And then, there are a few loners, who I don't even know. They just hang out in groups of 2 or 3, just with their intimate friends, and don't really socialize with anybody else.
That about covers it... Again, I don't mean to generalize, because many of the cliques, especially the one I belong to, are hard to firmly define, because there are always exceptions and borderline cases. I hope you found the summary of the cliques in my year intersting!

In our school there are 5 groups, which are as follows:
The Jocks: As you can guess these are the people who like nothing but sports and music, all they talk about is sports, all they do is sports.
The Populars: These are the popular kids, you might think these kids are snobs, they are quite the opposite in our school, they are the nicest kids you could ever meet, although some of them are sarcastic, mean and dumb as a post, but the majority of them are happy to help, they're nice, not polite but they're nice.... did I mention they're nice?
The Technos: This is the group I fit into, basically as our name suggests, we like any type of technology, computers, video games, you name it, we like it, you might be thinking that we sound like nerds, well we're not, for a start we're cooler, and we're admired for our L337 computer skills, we're also smart, but unlike most of them I have a knack for stories, as some have you have already seen, but basically we're neutral, we don't look down or up to any group, also we don't give a damn what people think.
The Nerds: These are basically looked down upon by the Jocks and the Populars, they're smart, not funny and try to fit in and tell jokes that no-one gets, most of them love sci-fi, and dungeons and dragons, I don't know much about them but at lunch all they do is homework.
The Super-Nerds: This group was mentioned by Nido, this group is so unpopular that even regular nerds beat them up and take they're lunch money, all they talk about is comic books, sci-fi films and role play board games, one time I saw a group of them around a computer so I asked them what they were doing, and they replied that some other trekkies were sending them reasons why Captain Bickard (dunno how to spell it) is better than Captain Kirk, and then the laugh *shudder* the snorting laugh..... I hate the laugh.

My Friends and I Fit into The Group
"Chaotic TroubleMakers"
Once every 3 days or so one of us is suspended
It Consists of
- Ryder- Brute Force
- Me- The Smart One
- Jake- Brute Force
- Spencer- His stupidity bails us out sometimes
- Zach- The quiet person that likes to tease the teachers behind their back
- David- A Kid That Just follows us around and occaisionally trips people
Lots of people hate us because we like to cause common inconvenience's for people like
-Making them Drop Their books
-Blocking the doors
-Holding up the line in the cafeteria
and we also like to bug the teachers by going upstairs during time's that we shouldnt (i find it funny when one of em Spaz's out )
I'm Not to Bright but everyone else in the group is stupider. They have come to rely on my Brains.

Let's see if I can break this down.. the groups in my school aren't all that concrete. There's about 400 students total. About 300 go out for track, and about 200 for basketball. Sure, they don't all make it, but still. That alone messes up the normal groupings. Anyway, here we go...
The "jocks." We do have a few people who do fit into this stereotype. The play sports. They're the "cavemen" type, the "Ug. Hit person. Get ball." sorta people. They have the IQ of a tea cup and a build of your typical bouncer. They have exactly the right GPA to remain eligible. However, unlike typical jocks, these guys are single.
I guess the next logical progression would be the "semi-jocks." They play sports, they're good at them, but they actually have a brain. Some of them are actually quite intelligent. As such, they do fall into the more typical jock stereotype of having girls lining up to go out with them.
We also have cheerleaders. Ironically, the cheerleaders aren't the cheerleader type, mostly. Sure, they sorta have that superior attitude that goes along with the cheerleading, but they aren't dumb. One of them is actually one of the highest ranked in the class.
We also have stereotypical cheerleader types, who ironically aren't cheerleaders. They do carry with them the idea that they rule the school, and that no one could possibly be better than them. They only hang out with other members of the group, unless it's with their boyfriend, who is about 5 years older than them on average, and has an IQ that makes the "jocks" look like Einstein.
There's also nerds. I differentiate nerds from geeks, because I see a clear difference. Nerds wear suspenders and pocket protectors, and debate things like "How many copies of the original Batman #4 were produced" while geeks go on to make computer games or become hackers. We have both. Even I'm creeped out by the nerds, and that's an accomplishment. They're just so overanalytical of things like Star Trek and the rules of Dungeons and Dragons. I just don't get it.
I myself belong to the geeks. We discuss things like "Why we need a rackmount server for video editing" and "Why hot-swappables are awesome." We take classes like Computer Programming, and rather than play sports, we do things like Webmastry and Video Editing. We wear mostly t-shirts (usually black, and with phrases like "There are only 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't") and jeans. We carry laptops and complain about how quickly and cheaply would could make the school's computer 20 times better. We're geeks and we're proud of it.
Of course, being that this is Midwest America, we also have the farmkids. They're not so much a clique, really, but they are around in numbers, and you can occasionally see them get together to talk about life on the farm. Very interesting, really.
And, who could forget the thespians? Those funny people that want nothing more than to be the center of attention. And if they can be up on a stage while doing it, even better! Really, they are quite funny, and some of them are way too smart.
The last groups that come to mind are quite intertwined. We have a dormatory at my school, with about 80 kids in it. About 50 of them are from another country. So, the people from one country all bond together, as do all the people who live in the dorms.
That's all that comes to mind, but I'm sure there's more I'm missing. Like I say, the groups aren't concrete, and there's people spreading many of them...

lol Love it.
I'm technically midwestern, but I guess I'm too inner city for farm folk. That would be interesting though.
The jocks in my school were either in higher level classes than me, or had better GPA's. That's not saying much, I did horribly (I still had special clearance to higher level classes though), but I can't think of one "jock" that didn't fair well. Of course, they didn't aspire to absorb the knowledge like I did, but they were pretty smart. Most of the "hot" girls weren't very bright, though they were in those classes as well. I think a lot of them believed their charisma and good looks would land them a job in the materialistic industry they aspire to work for.

At the school flaming_fox and I go to, here's the cliques:
Jocks: The super-sport-heads that talk about sports 24/7. The jocks at our school are also J erks.
Stuck-ups: These are the girls that think they're all that and more. Often flirt with older and even younger guys.
Wannabes: These are the guys that are real losers that are "friends" with the cool kids and pretends that they are just like them.
Buds: These are the guys that are true friends, and they talk about everything. They also team up for just about every class when you have to have a partner. This is where flaming_fox and I fall into.
Wishy-washers: These are the people that hang out with all the cliques and try to fit in all of them, but fails ultimitaly.
That mostly covers the cliques at our school.

You are now officially my favorite user here. Consider me a little Jiggz and you have Truestar. The only problem is is that I'm not at his level of intelligence, nor have anybody to discuss the things I truly would like to discuss. I'd love it if my current clique would just accept the fact that I want my own little clique, with my own little self, talking to myself about the things I love. Pokemon, Social Studies, and websites. God I wish the world wasn't so judgemental.
But yes, I'd love a laptop, I'd love shirts like that, so consider me your non-gay-but-thinks-you're-really-cool-"admirer". ;P
