Why don't people put attack IVs to 0 on a special sweeper? They don't need them, doesn't it mean more damage to itself by confusion? Same with Wobbuffet, Dusclops and Umbreon. Why do they need 31 in attacking stats they don't use?

I do put atk IVs to 0 on special only pokemon. the only exception is a pokemon using hidden power(its very hard to get the right type). by the way, dont most dusclops have shadow ball?

Some do, but a trapper set is probably better. If the hidden power type is physical, you wouldn't use it on a special attacker such as Alakazam. WQe are talking about Netbattle where you choose hidden powere type.

I'm not talking about a physical HP, I mean for example when you want HP grass on jolteon. if you take the standard IV spread your attack will be high. If you put the atk IV to 0 you need to change the other IVs a lot and I don't want to do that.

people have attack IVs because they don't bother with doing extra work that doesn't make the slightest difference in battle.
a 31 Atk IV Alakazam with 300 sp.atk with do just as well as a 0 Atk IV Zam with 300 sp.atk.
Why spend time on something that doesn't hinder/help its abilities in battle

It doesn't make much difference, but it's always nice to have a bit less damage by confusion. and it doesn't really take time to change the IVs

There is no difference in this, and your Attack IV can also affect things like a Struggle war and, if you're someone who likes to nail Bliss, an increased chance at doing so. This would just not contribute anything, and would just be unnecessary if everyone were to do so.

Most special sweepers would be no use in a struggle war.
High Atk EV Ok for hidden power.

Mod edit: STOP BACKSEAT MODDING.
For those with hidden power, if they require a 31 in attack, set it to 3. If they require a 30 in attack, set it to 2.
That is because they are 3 mod 4 for those that need 31 (so, its 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, etc); and 2 mod 4 for those that need 30 (so, its 2, 6, 10, etc).
I divulged this info from gamefaqs:

and you want to lower its Attack to reduce confusion damage, you should
use an Attack IV of 2 or 3 instead of zero because 2 and 3 activate
their power Ps whereas zero does not.
