Sky Attack over Fly, if he can learn it that is, and something better over Ice Punch.
Chansey / Beedrill
Thunder Wave / Twineedle
Softboiled / Poison Sting
Seismic Toss / Agility
Minimize / Hyper Beam
[color=cyan]Beedrill sucks, go with Chansey, but Special attack (TB or IB) over Minimize
Lapras
Thunderbolt
Surf
Ice Beam
Body Slam
[color=cyan] Sing or Confuse Ray over Thunderbolt, Blizzard over Ice Beam
Rhydon
Earthquake

Rest over Counter
Gengar
Thunderbolt

Fire Punch
Ice Punch / Lick
Hypnosis over a Punch, whichever one
This is a rainbow team I was planning. Beedrill and Gengar's Lick weaken the team but give it a move of every type. A nice novelty, but as Beedrill's stats, Lick and Poison Sting are awful it does not add to the strategy.
The rainbowish strategy is to hit with a wide variety of pok

Yeh, I agree with most of that.
Beedrill wasn't a plan to use, just there to make it rainbow lol.
Does eggy have enough attack to make use of explosion?
Draggy doesn't learn sky atk. Thunder wave might work instead of agility. Maybe Reflect could work. So, I'll swap Ice Punch (Beam) on Dragonite with Thunder Wave on Chansey.
As I have other ways of inducing paralysis, Body Slam seems less useful than Headbutt, 30% sounds like a nice hax. Gengar can but them to sleep, so Confuse Ray adds variety. So how often is Ice Beam better or worse than Seismic Toss?
So we have:
Exeggutor
Psychic
Mega Drain
Explosion
Leech Seed
Dragonite
Hyper Beam
Fly
Thunder Wave
Reflect
Chansey
Ice Beam
Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Minimize
Lapras
Confuse Ray
Surf
Blizzard
Headbutt
Rhydon
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Substitute
Rest
Gengar
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Fire Punch
Hypnosis

You only have one Sleeper, and that's Lapras, if you choose her. Perhaps an Exeggutor, Jynx, or even Gengar over Lapras/Slowbro, if you want.

i remember when i was very young, about 9 i guess, i loved blastoise - it was my fav pokemon. now it is not. anyways, that is the only pokemon i used.
it got up to level 88 i think.
blastoise
bite
surf
ice beam
earthquake
it was the only pokemon i used in the game to beat the elite four. the only wild battles it received were a few level ups at the beginning of the game when i got it and when i beat the game i went to the power plant to train, which i now realize is a VERY bad place to train - only about 200 - 300 EXP per pokemon. i got about 5 levels or so training at the power plant. that is sad - my pokemon is in the eighties and all its fighting is level 20 pokes which give 200-300 exp. lol.
oh yea, btw it is red version and i could not trade (no link cable) and also i had no gameshark

Can you get the blizzard TM? 108 is the average damage, in RBY (screwy system). I'd go with Skull Bash, for power, or counter, instead of bite.
Okay, I'll admit, I'm no expert, but this guy seems to be: http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/gameboy ... rategy.txt

My, my. No poisons in an RBY team, just because of the domination by psyhcics. But, it does a pretty good job of overcoming. Focus Energy is good, but you will want Earthquake, T-bolt, and Ice Beam/Blizzard.

Thunder Bolt

Trade back ice punch, possibly over mega drain. Otherwise, you're fine.
LV.100

3 Poisons is very bad. No. Get another psyhcic. Like 'Zam, Jynx, Slowbro, or Starmie.

Hyper Beam
Rock Slide
Body Slam
Rest
No need for hyper beam and body slam. Just BS. EQ instead.

I know that I may be ridiculed, but i'm about to reccomend *dumdumdum* DIG. A good attack, no EQ.
It's a shame how Kabutops can't get Rockslide.
I'm no expert - I adapt certain techniques in a guide with the movesets of today.

My RBY team im going to face my friend with. I think its relatively decent but I think it has a blind spot or two.
Razor Leaf
Body Slam
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Strategy: Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Then use CH from Razor Leaf to own, Body Slam 4 everything Razor Leaf is 4x weak against
Surf
Ice Beam
Confuse Ray
Body Slam
Strategy : Confuse Ray + Bodyslam 4 parafusion and/or pound away with Surf / Ice beam
Double Team
Flamethrower
Swift
Reflect
Strategy: Relect to Raise poor defense, Double Team if posible, Then pound away with Swift / Flamethrower using Flareons good Attack/ Special
Thunder Wave
Hyper Beam
Surf
Thunderbolt
Current Strategy : No Clue, feel free to suggest a new pokemon here if you wish
Wing Attack
Dragon Rage
Double Team
Hyper Beam
Current Strategy : Hopefully get a fast Double Team or two and nail a lucky miss. Wing Attack + Dragon Rage to Damage consistently, then finish of with Hyper Beam
Psychic
Reflect
Recover
Thunder Wave? / Double Team? / Seismic toss?
Current Strategy : Reflect to Raise Defense, Then Sweep with Psychic. Confused on the last slot. Im leaning toward Seismic Toss.

abloomon4 - Okay, maybe I can make some suggestions:
Venusaur - Yes, most in RBY start with a sleeper, but one problem - the 2 biggest sleepers kill this one (Jynx and Exeggcutor). Instead, go with toxic. Remember, Leech Seed runs on the same counter as Toxic. So, you get back more hp, and deal ALOT more damage. Now, what is 4x resist to Razor Leaf? I don't know anything but Dragonite - in any case, go with earthquake.
Lapras: TANK!!! It needs Rest, trust me. What's the hp rank, like 5 in 81, right? Then again, What you have is fine. I typically reccomend 4 of the following: Rest, Confuse Ray, Psychic, T-bolt, Ice Beam, Surf, BodySlam/SkullBash. Not Blizzard, here, only because this is going to last a long time, and you will run out of pp.
Flareon - You joined psypoke, right? So, you have brains. Use them properly, and get a different pokemon, please!
Dragonite: Blizzard NEEDS to be on here. Trust me. Also, Double Edge > Hyper Beam. T-wave is good, because freeze is rare. Can you trade to GSC? If so, agility or haze (If using haze, be sure not to haz a frozen/paralyzed opoponent.
Aerodactyl - Lets start over. Headbutt flinches quite often. EQ is powerful. Rock Slide is powerful, and has stab. For the last move, Mimic is good on occasion, or Supersonic because confusion is awesome (though the accuracy isn't). You could run fire blast, to kill of grasses and ice types (by-by jynx). You could run swift because there isn't much else.
Alakazam - The last move should have 2 more possibilities - Thunderpunch and Ice punch. Definately not double team, so you have 4 viable choices.
Now, you need 2 things - a sleeper, and another pokemon (flareon really is horrible, i'm sorry). Usually, RBY teams have 2 psychics, and you only have 1. You need a fast, dependable sleeper (Lapras can sing, but it will be put to sleep first). So, Jynx with a Lovely Kiss, Ice beam, Psychic, and something else is a good idea.Bubble Beam for hitting more, substitute to prevent ailments, and s-toss for constant damage.

Withdraw
Skull Bash > Withdraw. Surf > Bubble Beam. Counter > Mega Punch. Surf > Bubblebeam is obvious, for power. Skull Bash not only raises your defense (Withdraw), but also is a 100% accurate, 100 power normal move, compared to Mega Punch with 80 power, and 85% accuracy. Blizzard is an option > ice beam, but the low pp on a pokemon that can stick around isn't that good. The last move is a tossup - couner is good for physical sweepers, but leaves you vulnerable with low hp, and can fail with special moves, if not planned for. Thats about it.

Alakazam/Jynx/Slowbro/Starmie > Abra. You actually should have 2 psychics in RBY teams. Psychic would be a definate. As is recover, when possible. Elemental punches are available through GSC. Amnesia for slowbro helps. T-bolt on starmie, along with ice beam, psychic, and surf, is good, with recover in there. Too many options.
Blaziken234:
Gengar
~Psychic
~T-bolt
~Ice Punch/Explosion/Fire Punch/Haze/Confuse Ray
~Ice Punch/Explosion/Fire Punch/Haze/Confuse Ray
Lots of GSC Tradebacks. Trust me. Its good. Hypnosis/DreamEater sucks, unfortunately. Jynx is better at that. Night shade hits almost noone worse than the other moves (doesn't hit normals, and you wouldn't leave it in against psychic, would you? Pychic takes care of fighting, while t-bolt takes care of waters. Get my drift?).

lv 100
Flamethrower
Fly
Slash
Wing Attack
Scary Face
Doesn't get scary face. Swords Dance, EQ, Rock Slide, and either flamethrower, slash, or fly (in order of preference). Jynx and grasses killed by fire blast, slash becausen it hits hard, fly for the attack boost by sswords dance and stab and good hits on exeggcutor.
lv 98
Body Slam
Submission
Hypnosis
Surf
Go with blizzard > hypnosis. Or amnesia. Or earthquake. Actually, a slowbro would do much better
{victreebell} lv 94
Stun Spore
Poison Poder
Razor Leaf
Acid
An inferior venusaur. Exeggutor does sleep powder, poison powder, and stun spore. And, it gets stab in psychic, leaving it with less weaknesses (psychic weakness in RBY = DEATH, unless you are machamp).
lv100
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Hypnosis
Dream Eater
Ice punch is a trade back. Hypnosis/Dream Eater is unreliable. Go with Psychic and explosion instead.
lv 99
Earthquake
Explosion
Magnitude
Substitute
EQ, Rock Slide, Explosion, Double-Edge/Submission/may as well be empty. That is standard. Substitute is slow and won't last. Manitude is outdone by EQ.
lv100
Psychic
Thunder
Fire Blast
Blizzard
Good with blizzard. Bad with Thunder and fire blast. Fire is outclassed by ice in type coverage. And, some glitch with thunder/blizzard made blizzard 90% accurate all times. Go for Softboiled and thunderbolt instead.
I hope that this helped.

Fallacies in the RBY metagame:
1. Swords Dance and Slash should be used together. No. In RBY, Critical Hits completely ignore stat boosts. Thus, Swords Dancing up only to Slash things is a complete waste of time on everything with more than base 60 Speed, since Pokemon that fast will CH 99.6% of the time. (That statistic was not made up on the spot; there is a 1-in-256 chance for something like Slash to not CH when used by something like Charizard.)
2. Substitute and Focus Energy should be used. Unless you're playing in Stadium, these moves suck. Substitute does not protect you from stat drops or statuses like paralysis. Focus Energy doesn't do a damn thing, period. Sub is really only used on Rhydon in competitive battling, so it can survive 4x attacks, and that's only after a ton of paralysis support.
3. Hyper Beam and Blizzard are bad moves. No. Again, you're thinking with the mindset for later metagames. In RBY, Hyper Beam is often a key move that finishes off opponents with no drawbacks. You don't suffer from the recharging period if you KO your opponent's Pokemon unless you're playing in Stadium. Thus, in-game teams will greatly benefit from Hyper Beam. Also, Blizzard has 90% accuracy in this generation and generally outclasses Ice Beam unless you're using something that survives using all 8PP of Blizzard, like Chansey or Lapras.
4. Everybody plays in Stadium with GSC Tradeback moves. They don't, so stop recommending moves like Subsitute on anything or Ice Punch on things who only learn it in GSC. Only Hitmonchan and Jynx/Electabuzz/Magmar learn the elemental Punches naturally in RBY, with Hitmonchan being the only one who gets all three, and Hitmonchan sucks with all of them while the others have better elemental moves to be using.
Other things:
-Wing Attack, with its amazing 35 BP in RBY, should never used under any circumstances.
-Haze is not really useful in RBY since it heals the opponent's stat changes and statuses but not your own statuses.
-Counter is somewhat useful, despite only working on Fighting/Normal in RBY, because Normal moves are everywhere.
-Fighting moves like Submission should never be used outside of Fighting Pokemon for STAB. EQ handles Rocks just fine.
-Psychic Pokemon can easily squash every Bug in RBY. Lick doesn't even hit them. Psychics have no weak, basically.
