When you breed a volbeat and illumise, or a nidoran male and nidoran female, is there a determining factor that tells what the egg will be, or is it random? I ask because I need to breed my friend's volbeat, I don't have a ditto, and all I've been getting are illumise.

I think it still depends on what the female or the male pokemon is. Sorry I forgot which one.

I know thats the case for regular pokemon breeding, the female determines the baby. However, I'm fairly sure that a couple of breeding combos, like those above, can be an either/or situation, but I dont know what determunes it.

Yeah, its completely 50/50 chance. However, you can hatch 100 illumise eggs without a single volbeat.
The only ones that are exceptions to the rules are:
Nidorans
Volbeat/Ilumise
Wynaut
Azurill
The last 2 need items, or the will be wobbuffet and marill, respectively.

Ah, thank you. I figured it was something like that, but given I kept getting Illumise...
EDIT: Surprise, surprise. As soon as I sent in this post, an egg with volbeat hatches. Oh, why, cruel Game-Boy!

I have a few q's about pokerus
1.Can trainers poke have pokrus?
2.If yes then if i use Body Slam or any other physical attack on that poke will my poke get pokerus?
3.When we see a wild poke with pokerus will it be written on its status condition?
4.What is the percentage of finding pokerus?

Most probably not, but there's no way to tell. It's pointless for Trainer Pokemon to have Pokerus, either way.
2.If yes then if i use Body Slam or any other physical attack on that poke will my poke get pokerus?
I don't think so. Pokerus generally spreads from Pokemon to Pokemon within your party of six only.
3.When we see a wild poke with pokerus will it be written on its status condition?
You mean a status symbol? I'm not too sure about that, but probably not.
4.What is the percentage of finding pokerus?
It's unknown, but it's said to be much rarer than finding a Shiny Pokemon, so don't bother to actively "obtain" it.

No, you can't change a pokemon's nature. If you breed it (unless it's a legendary), you can try to get a desired nature.

I'm pretty sure it's in Mauville's gamecorner. It's offered as a prize.

Sorry to say this but you can't change the nature of the hatched Pokemon as I have tried saving before hatching saving and then getting the exact nature.

But if you bred for one egg, you can try again until you end up with the nature you're looking for.

I meant "if you breed this pokemon over and over you can try to get a desired nature from the hatched pokemon." Hence why I said "No, you can't change a pokemon's nature" at the beggining of my post. :/

Sorry if this is necromancy, but I didn't see any logic in starting a new topis with this tread.
Anyway, is there any specific stratigy to find a pokemon with good DVs, such as through breeding. I am pretty sure that I don't have pokemon with high DVs, as when I put most of my main pokemon through a few DV calculators, they came out with lower DVs.
Thanks.

1.) Necromancy is more for "bumping up" topics - it doesn't apply to stickies, and as long as you provide room for discussion, it is usually not considered necromancy.
2.) The question has been tossed around several times on this forum. Some say that it is like GSC, where DVs are passed down from the father.
However, a certain guide says otherwise:
Quote: But how to go about getting good IVs for your pokemon? Well, the standard
method is hatching pokemon. You see, when you receive a pokemon egg,
(and I heard this, so I'm not 100% certain, but it's certainly believable)
each of the pokemon's stat IVs is assigned its permanent value. If the
egg has parents, then any given stat IV on that egg has a 25% chance to
inherit the mother's IV in that stat and a 25% chance to inherit the
father's IV in that stat (and thus a 50% chance to inherit nothing). So the
better the IVs of the parent pokemon, the better the IVs the of the egg
pokemon (at least on average).
So the most probable course of action you might take would be to find the
best female pokemon you had of the species you wanted to hatch and pair her
with the best male in her egg group, and send them packing to the day-care
center. They would go in the back and make eggs, and you would collect
those eggs and hatch them (preferably five at a time, by emptying out your
party into the PC). As the eggs hatched, you would check their IVs
(detailed later) and determine (1) if they have good enough IVs for you to
use them as one of your professional battlers, or (2) if they are better
than the pokemon you already have in the day-care. In which case you would
have them switch places. I realize the obvious incest involved, but somehow
I just don't think the game cares. If you're a purist though, then do
whatever you want, I don't care.
Eventually you'll hit the jackpot, and you can use the runoff (the other
pokemon that you hatched that didn;t quite make the cut) for breeding with
different species. Once you get a lot of runoff pokemon in diverse egg
groups, getting better IVs in new species becomes easier and easier.
Eventually you have a box full of good, quality pokemon, then two boxes,
then three, and then you get bored with Pokemon and you go to the store and
buy a tropical fish. But that's life.
Note that thats the Game Mechanics Faq by Rain_Dance from http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadva ... 21905.html .

This isn't so much a Pokemon Emerald question as it is a general RSE question... Do they still go here?
Anyways, I was wondering...
The little girl in the flower shop said that if flowers die, they'll grow back again. "It's like they have the will to live." But this doesn't always happen for me... Even common berries like Orans -- if I leave them for too long and come back, nothing grows at all.
Is this normal? I'm confused...

Had you used the wailmer pail? The plants need water to grow.
For instance, look at the cheri berry - http://www.psypokes.com/rs/berrystats.php?id=1
You see where it shows the growth data - 3hrs per stage? Water it at the end of each stage, and you will get the most berries.
Don't water it at all, and it won't even sprout.

You don't have to water it, you can just plant it and come back in twelve hours, and it will be fully grown. you just need to water it if you want more berries than average.
