The Shinnoh pokedex is not actually every new fourth-generation pokemon--only a few common ones in the game that come from all four generations.

*NOTE:* you do NOT need to see Manaphy to complete the Shinnoh pokedex, thankfully, since it would be a huge pain in my side. I don't know if this has been stated yet either, but you don't actually have to CATCH them all to complete the Shinnoh dex. Only see them. So as long as you battle virtually every trainer in the game (not hard at all) and do most of the extra stuff, you'll be all set. (The Nintendo Power guide for D/P is helpful with finding all of them in record time, too.)

Oh yeah, after you get the dex completed, headover to the Valor Lakefront. The director will give you a certificate for your hard work. I don't know if this does anything, or if it can be viewed again, but it's something.

Here is my tip on compleating the shinoh dex.

STEP 1-buy BOTH games
Step 2-Buy a guide
Step 3-Go through the game catching every pokemon in each are.
Step 4- After beating the elites EVOLVE the pokemon you haven't
Step 5-Than trade between your games

NOTE-If you are only trying to get the national dex than do this-BATTLE EVERY SINGLE TRAINER!

If you have access to the GTS, then buying the both games would technically be a waste of money. I would also hold off on the guide cause I'm sure Psypoke will update with one in detail eventually.

I saw that you can find almost all the pokemon and probably finish the national too just the event pokemon screw me up.

All the pokemon except the starter and the version legendarys are the only minor fracture to finishing the national

I wonder why the coolest Pokemon i.e. Magmortar, Electivire, Dusknoir, Yanmega, and others, were left out of the Sinnoh Dex.

Probably because you need non-sinnoh dex Pokemon to obtain them.

do you have to catch all of the pokemon to get the NAT. dex or just see all 150?

Only see them. In-game, certain Pokemon can't be caught without trading (version exclusives) and others can't be caught at all until you have the Nat Dex (Feebas/Milotic, you need a Super Rod), so it'd be mean of them to make you catch all 150.

Not part of your question, but do know that as long as you fight all the trainers (especially the Elite Four), visit the Solaceon Ruins, and visit the old woman at Celestic anytime after getting Dialga/Palkia, you'll have a complete Sinnoh Dex with ease. Oh, and don't forget the pixie trio either!

Wow...another repeat of what I just said a couple posts ago.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of questions pertaining how to complete the dex (As why this was stickied) So...before you post the question, cheak the previous pages to make sure it hasn't already been anwsered here, or on the question's page.

Can we get a lock from a mod? I'm sure all the requirements telling how to complete it have already been said.

Do you need Uxie, Mespirit, and Azelf to complete the PokeDex?

Yes. You'll have to at least battle Uxie and Azelf (and either catch or faint them as desired), but Mespirit's entry is added when you first encounter it at the lake. You do not have to track it down in grass to get its entry.

1. Leet speak is frowned apon.

2. Add someone to your friends list, mix records, etc. and you can trade with them if they have gone.

3. Should be on the Nintendo site...Someone will post it sooner or later...

hey guys, I have a doubt, when you complete the sinnoh dex and get the nat dex, and go to the GTS, can you trade for pokemon (of the national dex) that you haven't seen?
cheers

NOpe - you can't. GTS can only search for pokes that you've seen.

I Just Beat The Elite 4 So i Decided To Finish The Sinnoh Pokedex
As I Was Starting Up The Game I See It Says Pokedex 149
I Check My Pokedex And Its Correct Ive Already Seen 149 Pokemon...
I Didnt Even Try To Complete It Before The E4, I Actually AVOIDED The Grass
I Dont Like Fighting Wild Pkmn ,I Fought Every Trainer Only For The Training
And Ended Up With An Almost Complete Pokedex. I Just Saved
Myself A Lot Of Time Somehow.

Well If Youll Excuse Me Im Off To Start A Battle With #114 And Earn My National Dex

I had to do this on my own without a guide! You don't know how lucky you are, I'm trying to catch all pokemon just for their data, and I'm so lazy I don't even breed them... only 190 pokemon left! yay!

Will changing the time on the DS (ex. going back to the previous Friday) ruin the game at all?

Changing time in the game makes the game wait 24 hours for time based events. For instance, if you cahnge the day to friday, you have to wait a day for drifloon to appear, and then it will be too late. if you wish to do this, change it to thursday.
