So I was thinking.. Maybe Quick Attack can compensate speed sometimes??

Lets say its the start of a battle and I dont know which of the two pokes is faster..
Then I just attack him and I see that he made the attack first.. That means opponents poke is faster then mine is..
I repeat the same thang now, and on the third turn i make my poke use Quick Attack..

Lets see..

A(my poke is slower)
1. I get a hit.
2. He gets a hit.
3. I get a hit.
4. He gets a hit.
5. He gets a hit (Quick Attack). I win.

B(my poke is faster)
1.He gets gets a hit.
2.I get a hit.
3.He gets a hit.
4.I get a Hit.
5.He gets a hit. I win.

So get two hits anyway.. Ofcourse my pokemon has to be able to take those two hits without fainting..

Well, that just a thought.. And I know its probably not very reliable.. Disscus please..

i think quick attack is useful, but only for finishing off the opponent when its HP is low to prevent him from using recovering moves like rest.

That's the whole point of it...

Quick attack is very useful. There are a good number of Pokemon who use Quick Attack very well, like a Swords Dancing Scizor (his technician ability really comes in handy here). That attack is usually the main attack on a SD Scizor, especially since he's slower than most other pokes.

Priority moves aren't bad at all; they're used rather often, like Mamoswine's and Donphan's Ice Shard, or Metagross's Bullet Punch. Heck, one of the most common strategies with Lucario is Swords Dance and Extreme Speed (a stronger version of Quick Attack).

Priority moves are great, especially when used in conjunction with stat-up moves.

Yep...makes it even harder to counter; I wouldn't be able to switch in Gengar anymore. :( The only reason I didn't include it before is because you technically can't use it yet, unless you're playing shoddy battle. Otherwise I'd definitely give my Scizor Bullet Punch. I would get SO many complaints about hacks though, so that's why I'm not.

Or just have a friend who has Platinum and is fluent in Japanese that you can trade 8 times with to give them the shards and then have them teach your pokes the tutor moves. (getting those shards are a pain in the ass....) or just a heart scale for scizor.
I don't see how having them nowadays would be illegitimate.. It's not something every player has access to, but it can be legitly done.

thats right - there's nothing illegitimate about having someone with platinum tutor moves for you :) i have a couple of friends on smogon who do that for me.

i absolutely love my bibarel with curse and quick attack :D its ability simple makes curse act as a simultaneous swords dance and iron defense (stat changes are doubled) and the speed drop is largely irrelevant thanks to quick attack....... pity it didnt get extreme speed :(

OMG!
So platinum finally gave me a reason to not hate Bibarel??? O_O
BTW i agree that there's nothing wrong in having Platinum move tutors...
I have platinum myself, And it's being a great japanese learning experience for me... :D
(when i have time to play...)
And still speaking about First priority ...
Slaking and Umbreon are REALLY loving Sucker Punch...

Hm, you guys DO have a point. I just figured that since it's not released in the states, people would not be aware of it being able to learn these Platinum tutor moves/be able to get them without hacking, therefore, would complain. Then again...the internet exists for a reason...XD. That, and being able to trade with the Japanese...or just people with Platinum IS possible nowadays...I think I'm going to get me a Bullet Punch Scizor. :D Anyone willing to help? (Then again, ARing it is...an option; legit or illegit, it doesn't really make a difference, other than bragging rights. I'm hesitant, but it's an option.)

Sucker Punch Umbreon?! Wow, that's pretty awesome!

I can't see Slaking pulling of sucker punch well. People usually sub, protect or or switch to something that will resist it's likely move on it's attack turn and attack him while he's truant. Nice move for umbreon though :D

Jeebus That gives me a reason to fear bibarel... I'll have to remember that.
