What exacly is the "classic" team for this game?
Like in crystal/silver/gold "Ash" had:
Charizard
Blastoise
Venusuar
Raichu
Espeon
Snorelax
But I think it should have Alakazam which is more "traditional" then espeon-
I know there may be quite a few who argue (notice the quotations) but honestly what do you think?

In terms of a "classic" team, IE one that you would most commonly see, and has the least creativity, I would vote for a team consisting of the legendaries, your starter, and one other pokemon (or maybe just them, if you count the legendary dog; Snorlax as a legendary-lite, or one of the fossil pokemon, might also be in there).
So, something like:
, , , , / / , and / / / / /Other random pokemon

His name is Red, not Ash.
I personally don't have a dream team, although if Ash in the Anime could just have these Pokemon I would like it. Maybe he wouldn't lose all time in Leagues if he didn't use Pokemon like Corphish VS Swampert.

Venusaur
Charizard
Blastoise
Pidgeot
Raichu
Nidoking
Gengar
Gyarados
Dragonite
are the pokemon that seem to be the most frequently used if you ask me.

There's a great link to a site for this, but I can't remember where it was (I saw it on this site for sure though...). Shows over-used Pokes for each generation.
But the "Dream Team" for me would include fully-evolved Pokemon of various types (still not sure which ones would be best), and for sure my starter would be there (who would be enough of an idiot not to put your best companion on your dream team?).
If it were my choice, there are two great teams that I would use. The "Dream Team" and the "Legends Team".
The second, obviously, would consist of mainly Legendaries because of their immense power.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, but usually when people see Ditto they switch to a member of their team that can be easily defeated by another member of their team.

Feasible Dream Team:
They're all solid.
In my opinion, Water is the strongest type, for it has two weaknesses and can use a variety of effective moves against others.
Tyranitar is very strong, with an exception against fighting types.
Arcanine is a beast.
Hitmonlee is incredibly essential; a strong fighting type is needed to deal with special cases such as a Tyranitar.
Mewtwo is just straight up incredible. Mine uses Psychic, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt, thus making it effective against most pokemon types.
is an incredible pokemon. He may be time consuming to obtain, but having one weakness, and a rare one at that, makes it a real contender.

My current team is:
- special sweeper, mainly w/fire moves
- special sweeper, with thunderbolt, solarbeam, pyschic
- this one, water/ice moves
- essential, earthquake, dragon dance, rockslide, brick break (in case I come across another tyranitar :3) with atk+hp EVs
- HP+DEF EVs+softboiled=lol, sing+sunny day/rain dance, sing, then switch
Anyone got ideas for a 6th slot, if necessary?
