So I've been wanting to make a moveset for Porygon abusing conversion, why? because I can. Which moveset/evolutions would work better with this move?
Ones I've brainstormed are;
 Porygon2
Download
Relaxed @ chople berry/lum berry
EV's in def/s.def HP
-Conversion
-Recover
-Tri-attack
-Iron tail (only steel move it gets)
 PorygonZ
Adaptability
Timid @ Lum berry
EV's in HP/Speed
-Conversion
-Recover
-Shadowball
-Tri attack
With both conversion will switch between normal and ghost/steel. Iron tail is somewhat useable if download gets him an attack boost, and adapted shadow ball is plain scary.

Darn it I was hoping to get a shdow type like in XD Gale of darkness
As far as Porygon goes I'd say stick with Z
because faceing a porygon Your foe is inclined to use a fighting move which ghost is Immune to were as steel is still weak.

Uh, why exactly would you waste the move slot like this? o.o Conversion is gimmicky at best, and Porygon-Z is WAY too fragile to risk it. P2 might be able to get away with it because of his better defenses, but its iffy at best.
If you really want to do this though, then I suggest you use Porygon2, because Z has far better things it could be doing, like firing off Nasty Plot boosted adaptability boosted Life Orb boosted hyper beams that have a shot at OHKOing max HP/SD calm blissey, or something like that. Anyway, P2 will want Trace, so it can be one of the most versatile counters in the game when it isn't trying to use conversion, and it will want to consider using Conversion 2, because its better move for defensiveness. If you stick with Conversion 1 though, then don't use Iron Tail. Please. It has horrible accuracy, and steel is a lol offensive typing anyway. You can use any special attacks you want really, just make sure they have good coverage and whatnot. Also note that Conversion can change to a Hidden Power type if you have it.
For Z, I would suggest:
{porygonz} @ Life Orb
Timid/Modest - 252 SA, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Adaptability
- Conversion
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball/Nasty Plot
Its basically the Nasty Plot sweeper with a Nasty Plot in one move instead of all 3. Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball give the same coverage when combined with BoltBeam (you hit everything neutral except Magnezone), so it depends on if you'd rather be a Dark type or a Ghost type. Or you can go with Nasty Plot itself and just have an inferior moveset. I realize I've been dismissing this whole strategy as a bad use of a pokemon, but I really tried to make this set good and I just can't find a way to make it anything other than an inferior Nasty Plot sweeper.

Mostly for the fun of it, I find the gimmicky sets much more interesting to make than the standards. Prior to this I tried a camouflage set on a starmie, it went ok but nothing I'd put on my team.
The problem I have with conversion 2 is the type that it becomes is not up to choice and he has to be hit beforehand. Also according to smogon hidden power and weatherball act as normal-type so it's stuck with sucky iron tail if I want it's resistances.
If I run this move on a set it'll have to be on Pory2. PoryZ is just to frail and even if I do a +def and max EV nature on poryZ it won't outrun anything and still be on the frail side.

I tested it on Shoddy earlier with only HP steel as its move and it became the steel type. Maybe its an instance of Shoddy being **** up again, like with trick, but I know it works there.

Masterchef tried it ingame.
"But it failed"
I wish it did work though, that'd make the steel type set soooooo much better...
