Don't know if you noticed, but this is the Kanto forum. Considering the place it's at, suggesting two Pokemon who are from Sinnoh makes absolutely no sense...
As for me, I would go with the age-old type mix.
However, I've played Blue and beaten the E4 about 50 times with this lineup:
Alakazam Lv. 100
Snorlax Lv. 100
Snorlax Lv. 100 (yes, two of them)
Charizard Lv. 93
Gyarados Lv. 86 (working on level for those two)
Mewtwo Lv. 74 (or another Pokemon, just to train them quickly...)
Obviously, it's different, and there are several "correct" answers to this question, but that's the lineup I use. It works for me...
Hope this helps!

everything is relative to your playing style. personally i favour a heavy attack route, but this leaves me open in defence. this is best summarised by my favourite battle tower team being: kingdra, metagross and latios.
i have just beaten the elite four on my blue. i used one of my favourite teams which was: raichu (55) thundershock, swift, quick attack, ??? charizard(53) fire spin, rage, flamethrower, slash hypno (54) poison gas, hypnosis, psychic, headbutt lapras (52) surf, hydro pump, ice beam, body slam dugtrio (52) earthquake, dig, slash, ??? pigeot(54) wing attack, fly, mirror move, agility.
this is a brilliant elite four team as all the types match up well, and a single pokemon can usually take each elite four member. if i was to create a contest team i would swap the hypno for an alakazam, with elemental punches. remove the raichu for snorlax or chansey and trade dugtrio for nidoking. but i am on an emulator and can't trade, and dont wish to cheat so hypno it is. i also dont use tm's very often, which is why some still have very terrible moves. although its not needed for the elite four.
also legendaries are OP and do not count.

Back in my younger days of not thinking about strategy, I've beaten the elite four only using a Gyarados, by itself. Ice beam and Surf do made damage along with Body Slam and TBolt for those few people that resist ice and water.
Also beat the entire 4 with an Alakazam too a few times, remember psychic being on him, but I don't remember his entire moveset, that's been around 13 years ago.
Any of the usual, high overall stat pokemon are great.
Alakazam, Gyarados, Snorlax, really just about anyone could hold their own back then though. You could make a team of just Charizard, Blastoise, and Venasuar and tear through the whole E4 and Gary.

By the time I got to the Elite 4, this was my team, all around level 50 (can't remember exactly what level): with Flamethrower - Used against Lorelei with Dig - Used against Bruno and Rival with Psychic - Used against Bruno and Agatha with Ice Beam and Surf - Used against Lance and Rival with Thunder - Used against Rival with Pin Missile - Used against Rival I used Raichu against Pidgeot and Blastoise, Beedrill against Alakazam and Exeggutor, Starmie against Rhydon, and Dugtrio against Arcanine (just to give it something to do). With this team, all around level 50, I didn't have to use any healing potions or pp restore things. It was all good in the 'hood.

My team for the first elite 4 I love poison so my team was: Gengar lvl 51 - Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Shadow Ball, Destiny Bond. Sweeped all with hypnosis as the first move. Beedrill lvl 53 - TwinNeedle, Brick Break, Swords Dance, Focus Energy. Start out with focus energy, then a swords dance Nidoking lvl 55 - Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Earthquake. As its weak against water and ground i teached it t-bolt and ice beam Venusaur lvl 53 - Frenzy Plant, Razor Leaf, Sleep Powder, Synthesis. I was a kid so i deleted leech seed as a fail... Frenzy plant ftw! Golbat, cant become a Crobat before after elite four (national dex) lvl 58 - Confuse Ray, Bite, Wing Attack, Haze. My BEST Friend althrough the journey... I love you Golbat/Crobat <3 Vileplume lvl 52 - Petal Dance <3, Sleep Powder, PoisonPowder, Moonlight

Okay, guys, this is Kanto. ^^ Didn't have Frenzy Plant, and although that was in the remake, it does not pertain to the first generation, since it was third. ^ We did not even know about Kyogre or Groudon. Again, third gen.
