[Rant]I've always been a big fan of dark types(as if it weren't obvious).

Every type has had a gym leader in the first two generations. Oh wait, there were only 16 gyms, and 17 types. What was left out? Dark types.

But that's alright, they'll get they're spot in the next generation, I thought. Well, I was wrong.

It's still cool, there's always the fourth generation! Wrong again!

How come, despite the fact every type had a gym within the first 2 generations except dark, after 2 more generations, nothing has changed? Yes dark types have had 2 elite four members, but never a gym, a place for devout dark type trainers to hone their skills.

I am hopeful the fifth generation will end this stupidity, since the first to revealed pokemon are pure dark. Critique me as you will.[/Rant]

Oh, and as a side note: I hope one of the starters has dark as a secondary type!

I agree with this. We could call the leader Terry (for terrifying, like Morty = mortifying, mortality, morbid, etc).

I totally agree. Dark's did have Sidney and Karen of the E4 though. But true no Gyms. There are a lot of strong Dark types out there.

Yeah...I really want a Dark Gym...cause of obvious reasons & cause I don't really consider Karen of the Johto Elite 4...how can I say this, a Dark Elite 4...she's more Poison & Ghost oriented then Dark oriented imo...if they do make a Dark Gym leader 5th Gen, would it be a male or female Gym Leader that is my question?...

I want to say male because the masculine figure is more imposing and fitting of the dark type. Men also seem more easily corrupted. Not that women can't be scary. The logic is along the same lines that a grass type gym is always led by a compassionate woman. Sorry if that seems sexist.

Well I believe the anime Claymore explained that logic in at least some detail so...& I don't see this being sexist...you explained why you said male so...

& I say male too because imo, most of the Dark Pokemon there currently are seem to be Pokemon I see male trainers having more so then female trainer...meh...

Wouldn't it be a lot more interesting if Gym Types weren't based on an elemental type? I don't mind having a few, it's just that I reckon themed gyms such as, say, "confusion gym" or "paralysis gym" or maybe even "trick room in effect 100%" would be interesting? What do you guys think? Or too unconventional?

Perhaps if 5th gen had a 16 gym format with the first 8 being elemental and the last 8 not? I think it would be pretty cool.

I agree...the Gyms I would like to see hit future pokemon games are;

1. Gym Leader whose pokemon consists of nothing but Eevee's evolved forms...
2. Dark Gym = there needs to be one...
3. Another Diversity Gym that isn't themed...like Blue's Gym in GSC & HGSS...

I agree. We should have a dark gym, cuz dark type is one of the best types in my opinion. They have awesome pokemon, like umbreon, darkrai etc. Great attacks, night slash, sucker punch.

But loads of Dark-types are feminine. Umbreon, Absol and Sneasel to name a few?

Agreed. It would definitely be a refreshing change of pace.

Also, how about one of the E4's being a doubles battle? I think it'd be kickass.

Idea, I have one. What if you were to battle that region's Champion who is paired with a random Champ/Renound Trainer from the other regions (100% random choice every time between Red, Blue, Lance, Wallace, Steven, and Cynthia). Your partner would be your rival.

Emin Jofit, you may have figuratively struck gold. A Champion double battle would be amazing. One thing though: would each opponent use all 6 Pokemon, or would they each use 3 of their team? But getting back to the topic on hand, a Dark type Gym is way overdue.

I had actually sketched out a plan wher at that start of the game there are 6 starters to choose from(Water, Fire, Grass, Fighting, Dark, Psychic). When you picked your starter, a "Rival" would run in and pick a corresponding type(Water-Fighting, Dark-Grass, Fire-Psychic). Then throughout the regular game that "Rival" would meet you before every gym/key story moment, and every battle during would be double. I realised this was probably a stupid idea...

I'd settle for an elite 4 member whose type was dark and had ALL dark type.

However, if Team Rocket ever takes over a gym as a plot point, I think they should be a "Dark Gym", which is replaced with the real gym when you free the gym leader from some rocket hideout or something.

Leftovers of Team Aqua and Magma could have their own water and fire gyms in similar fashions... or - gasp - a fire faux gym on one game, and anwater faux gym on the other!

YES! except now that I think about it, they kinda have catered for unconventional gyms in the form of the battle frontier. But still it'd be fun! Doing minigames and stuff before facing the gym leader perhaps. They did say that they were gonna revamp the whole series so I got a bit of a feeling gyms is on that list.

I hope they add a sixth member to that rooster cause 5 ain't enough for me, lol...but no, I can deal with this cause a Gym most likely will never have 6 pokemon...not even Platinum rematch roosters had 6 pokemon in them...
