Oh joy, another great debate. >_>
I like Kyogre a little better, because it was my version mascot when I started playing RSE, I now have Ruby and not Sapphire and it makes me feel awkward. :/
But both are beast. Kyrogre is a freaking whale, awesome, and is great all around with Calm Mind, Ice Beam, Surf and more, it's just great. Groudon, while making much less sense than Kyogre, is still solid, learning Flamethrower, Solarbeam and having an auto-Sunny Day.
However, one last thing, Rayquaza is my favorite of the "weather trio", as he negates the other two's weather effects (which also makes sense for the story, yay!). He's also a great battler, with solid Attack and Special he makes an awesome mixed sweeper. Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Hyper Beam, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Aerial Ace, awesome.

My favorite of the trio is Rayquaza. But if i have to choose between Kyogre and Groudon, i would choose Kyogre.
Kyogre can take out all of it's weakness with Ice Beam and Earthquake. And most of it's moves are based on it's greatest asset, namely Special Attack. It also has a good Special Defense, that means it could take a couple or so of weaknesses hits.
While Groudon doesn't has a good Special Defense to make it survive from some weaknesses hits. And, most of his moves are utilizing it's third greatest asset, namely Special Attack. So even it could give a lot of damage, it didn't make things as good as Kyogre would.

ALTHOUGH KYOGRE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY LEAST FAVORITE POKEMON SO GROUDON IS A LITTLE COOLER

Dark_Swampert wrote: {groudon} is a great pokemon. With Drought ad Solarbeam he can easily take down . Actually, a specially-based Groudon normally doesn't beat Kyogre one-on-one. Assuming no critical hits, any Kyogre with decent stats will survive a Solarbeam from a Modest, Max Special Attack Groudon with Choice Specs. It will then use Water Spout and Ice Beam to KO. The only way for Groudon to win is to either force a speed tie or use a Choice Scarf. Unless Kyogre also has a Choice Scarf, and then it goes back to speed tie. This is assuming it is Sunny. If it's raining, Groudon is pretty much screwed, but can win if hax favours it. It must use Choice Scarf, win the speed tie, or both, and use Thunder. Thunder must paralyze, and Kyogre must not be able to attack. Then another Thunder will finish it. Assuming Groudon moves first, the chance of this happening is 7.5%. Just saying. And obviously, this could be different if they were on a team. Anyway, I prefer Kyogre it's awesome, and I like whales better than... dinosaur-things.

Not to mention Gen III paved the way for the current gens, as well as added a ton of moves of evo's so thank Gen III or HGSS wouldn't have been as good.

Dude, seriously, shut up. I'm sick of you spouting "I DON'T LIKE GENERATION 3" in every thread. You stated that you don't like Hoenn once already in this thread, was it necessary to post it again? Your second post wasn't even on topic. You're entitled to your opinion and all, but going on and on about how much you hate generation 3 is getting really annoying. Also this "13 year olds all love Hoenn because they're kids!" stuff is getting annoying too. You're like...what? 14? Sorry, but you also fit into the "younger generation" category that you hate so much.
Back on topic: this thread is about Kyogre vs. Groudon, any other posts that are off topic will be deleted.

Fine. You want me to stay on topic? Alright then.
Kyorge is better than Groudon, because Water is better than land. IN MY OPINION.

Even though Pokemon Ruby was my second Pokemon game (yeah I kinda arrived a little bit later to the Pokemon scene), I have to go with I never had too much luck with in battle. One time it was OHKO'd by a Roselia with Giga Drain. T.T
