The Brainteaser Battle: Part 1

Hello ladies and gentleman, and welcome to the very first installment of, The Brainteaser Battle!  My name is twistedturtwig, and I'll be your host.  You will be competing for faaaaabulous prizes!  And all you have to do is answer a few questions.  But first, here are the rules:

1) Each round, a new brainteaser will be posted.  The first person to answer correctly will receive points. If no one gets the right answer in three days, we will move on to the next round.
2) Puzzles are worth differnet amounts of points, spending on their level of difficulty.
4) Every so often, there will be a Bonus Round.  The winner of a Bonus Round will receive a Hint 3icket, which is good for one free hint, which will be given via PM.
4) If you're not posting to answer a question, don't post.  I don't want to see spam posts like, "Zekrom223, I think your answer's right."
5) Follow all the regular forum rules.
6) This game will run until November 30.

And without further ado, I present to you, the first question!

"A taxi driver runs through four red lights, two stop signs and goes through a house. A police officer witnesses this but doesn't do anything. Why not?"

The first correct answer will give you... 1 point!  GO GO GO!  It's ANSWER TIME!

The cop couldn't believe he watched a car phase through some stoplights like a ghost and he fainted

Time for Round 2! (Gotta make these a bit harder ...)

The next question!

"You are riding on your horse, a majestic steed. To your right is a sharp cliff, and to your front is an elephant moving at the same pace, which you can not overtake. To your left is a hippo running at the same speed. Furthermore, a lion is chasing you. Is there any way for you to get to safety?"

The first correct answer will get you... 2 points! GO GO GO! It's ANSWER TIME!

You kill the lion with a shotgun and tell the horse to stop running.

The answer is...
Get off the merry-go-round which you were on

If it's a merry-go-round, the answer is, do nothing. You're not in danger.

just slow down and kill the lion by backing over him with your nobel steed

Time for round 3!

The next question!

"A man is able to make perfectly faked counterfeit dollar bills. They look 100% like the real ones, they are made of exactly the same materials, made the same way, everything. So perfect, one could pretty much call them actual bills, only they're not. One day the man successfully makes a flawless copy of another bill. However, he is caught when he tries to use the copy in a store. How is this possible?"

The first correct answer will get you... 2 points! GO GO GO! It's ANSWER TIME!

Um, maybe the store uses a different currency (like Euros or something other than Dollars)?

It's a mirror image of the original. So everything's backwards (because it's a copy).

The cashier notices the two bills are absolutely identical and deduces one must be a copy?

Or he had copied a two-dollar bill and tried to use it at Taco Bell

Allow me to extend Skeleton's answer: The cashier noticed that the bills are absolutely identical, and even the serial numbers are the same.

Ding, ding ding! Mr. Dude, you are correct! The man made an exact copy of someone else's counterfeit by mistake. (You all had good answers that could have worked, but I was looking for Mr. Dude's.)

"Uncle Reuben, who is unmarried, was in the big city to visit his sister, Mary Ann. They were asking together along a city street when they came to a small hotel. "Before we go any farther," Reuben said to his sister, "I would like to stop a moment and inquire about a sick nephew of mine who lives in is hotel." "Well," replied Mary Ann, "seeing as I don't happen to have any sick nephew to worry about, I will just trot in home. We can continue our sightseeing this afternoon." What relation was Mary Ann to this sick nephew?"

She was the mother of the sick kid?

Ding, ding ding! IceArceus12, you are correct! Mary Ann was the boy's mother. What a caring parent.



Time for round 5!

The next question!

"Christopher has learned about a terrible crime committed by John and Ralph. He has known both of them for years and cares for them equally. Why, then, does he only report Ralph to the authorities, and not John? Christopher has nothing to gain by turning only Ralph."

The first correct answer will get you... 3 points! GO GO GO! It's ANSWER TIME!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, John confessed.

His memory has gone weird and only remembers that Ralph was in the crime

I'm going to hazard a guess. John is a puppet owned by Ralph, who is a ventriloquist.

I'm guessing... John and Ralph had did the crime, but only Ralph's part of the crime was enough to get him arrested, and not John (idk....)

John was killed in the crime? Or...He was already arrested.

Because he DAMN WELL FEELS LIKE IT. *shot*
