WRAP UP

Trivia had a good turn out with some veterans and some new players. Old champions Suspicious and Rhapsody were in attendance and contenders for winning tonight. DNA, trivia buff and a strong player in Jeopardy 2012 would also be a challenger for the title. EvilPenguin, winner of Jeopardy 2012 was unable to attend.

DNA was very much in control of the game at the half. Rhapsody was not completely out of it, however, with 6 points and 30 questions to go. The rest were pretty close together. I earned 0.5 points for each question nobody could answer.

As expected at the half, DNA went on to win the game scoring a massive 27 points! The others gave him more of a challenge in the second half but he still scored the most points, 10 in total. Suspicious scored a respectable 9 points in the half to sneak into second place. Congratulations to all who placed and thanks to all the participants for playing.


After Trivia there was bonus Minute Madness but it ended up being a mess due to my inability to word things. I was really careful about that with the other questions :(. Sorry again for that. I also had wrong answers to two of the questions asked in the main game. I'll make sure to be more careful next time.

Two Saturdays from now on August 4th the current forums will be turning 8! To celebrate, I will be hosting an Anniversary Trivia!


GAME DETAILS

Where/when?

In the #PsypokeTrivia chat channel on KBFail's server (irc.kbfail.net). Date and time is August 8th at 6pm EDT. I anticipate that the game will take 1 hour.

For using the java applet to access the chats: go here, click on the Java Applet link, and type /join #psypoketrivia when you're connected.

How it works:

At the start +m will be set. I will state the category if a new one is starting.

Next before stating the question I will say "Ready?", then set -m and ask the question.

At this point everyone will be able to give the answer to the question. There will be no limit to how many times you can answer in. Please do not spam the channel and only submit answers to the question at this time so as to reduce lag.

When I see the first person to give the correct answer I will set +m, and then state the person who gave the answer as well as the correct answer. The person will earn a point. The goal is to earn as many points as you can. Top 3 will get a prize.

Rules:

1. Do not use any colours or /me commands.
2. Do not argue if you thought that you answered before someone else. It will go by what appears on my screen only.
3. Do not PM any ops, especially me. If you have a complaint/question/whatever, wait until a break. (during the event)
4. Do not use any reference materials online OR offline (such as the site or a text file on your computer).
5. You must use your forum name to receive any prizes. Various exceptions are allowed, but ask first.
6. Do not change your nick during the event.

Why can't I talk when I get in there?
This would be supposing that you're late and +m is set. This usually means that it is between questions. +m is a special mode to be set on chat channels that mutes people without special privileges (voice or op). These are only given to some staff and others who have won the status in previous games.

How will typos be dealt with?
If they are not too bad I will accept them. This will be subject to my discretion but I will try to be consistent.

What happens to rule-breakers?
Loss of all points in the game, loss of all Psybucks on the offender's forum account, and permanent bans from #psypoke, #PsypokeTrivia, the forums, the main site, and the internet forever. In other words, don't do it. :O

I regrettably won't be able to attend since it's on a Saturday, and my weekends are busy with miscellaneous socializing, especially on 2pm and later (my time zone).

Err the date hasn't bee set yet... I have only specified August 3 - August 5 so far.

My weekends are generally pretty packed anyway, so odds are I won't be able to make it. If I can, however, I will try.

I'll try and make it - I've been to one or two before, though my knowledge is rusty and I'm not a very fast typer under that kind of pressure , but it's always fun to see the hilarious typos and the atmosphere is nice.
