DNA won with Rhapsody and Ace performing very well. Seven people scored in the negatives and Samurott won third non-staff just lagging the whole time. I suspect the questions were too hard since doing nothing got you 5th place. EP and Rhapsody were ahead of DNA at times but EP got a lot of questions incorrect and DNA pulled ahead.

Hey guys, I'll have a bit of free time in the coming weeks so I've decided to host another IRC game two weeks from now! More people wanted a Jeopardy this time, so Jeopardy it is!

Note that with Jeopardy essentially no typing skill is required; all that counts here is your knowledge of Pokemon. Additionally, there is no guarantee that DNA will dominate or even win. Everyone has a good chance to place for prizes!

In the #psypokejeopardy chat channel on KBFail's server (irc.kbfail.net).

I anticipate that the game will take 1 hour.

For using the java applet to access the chats: go here, click on the Java Applet link, and type /join #psypokejeopardy when you're connected.

How it works:

This Jeopardy works very similarly to normal Jeopardy. A clue is given, and after three seconds, people can buzz in. In order to do this, all you have to do is say "buzz" after the mode -m is set and hope that you entered it first. The buzzing process will be explained again at the beginning of Jeopardy.

After you buzz in, you will have eight seconds to answer. In order to answer, you must give the question to the clue (like normal Jeopardy). For example, one clue would be "this Pokemon is the first alphabetically," and its correct question (what you submit) would be "what is Abomasnow?". If you answer correctly you will earn the points equal to the value of the question. If you get the question wrong however, you do lose points. You will always be given the whole 8 seconds but I will only accept your first answer if you give more than one. You will be allowed to fix typos, though. If you need help, simply watch other people play for a bit and then join in.

Jeopardy also consists of the ability to choose the next question from multiple categories and point values. The person who correctly answered the previous question gets to do this. There are two rounds of six categories with five questions each, which adds up to 60 total questions. A round may end before all of the questions are chosen if it is taking too long.

It even consists of its own bonuses. One Daily Double in the first round and two in the second round can (as they suggest) double your points in the game. Before the clue is given, the participant who selected the clue will wager some or all of their points and earn double that amount if they answer correctly or lose the wagered amount if answered incorrectly. Only the person who selected the clue will be able to answer the question, and ten seconds will be given to answer.

Final Jeopardy concludes the event. One tough clue will be given and like for Daily Doubles, you can wager as many of your points as you want. For this question, thirty seconds are given for you to think over your answer while you imagine the Jeopardy Think music. After this, the final scores will be tallied and the winners will be announced.

All script commands will be explained during the event for those that need help.

1. Do not use any colours or /me commands.
2. Do not argue if you thought that you buzzed in before someone else. The entire process is scripted, and it is based on what appears on my screen only.
3. Do not use any reference materials online OR offline (such as the site or a text file on your computer).
4. Answers MUST be given in a question format such as "What is Pikachu?". This will be taken loosely, but drastic mixups between "where" and "who" will be called incorrect. (Pokemon are considered as "what"s)
5. You must use your forum name to receive any prizes. Various exceptions are allowed, but ask first.
6. Do not change your nick during the event.

Is there freezing?
I don't intend to do any freezing but I will have the ability to prevent participants from buzzing in if I feel the need to.

Does only "buzz" work for buzzing in?
Yes, so you better type it out first and wait for -m before pressing enter. Even missing a "z" or using colours would cause the script to skip over you.

What are the special commands that will be included?
!chart: Shows the chart to the person choosing the next question.
!q (category) (amount): Selects the next question.
!wager (amount): Allows an easier process for wagering in daily doubles.

Only the second and third commands will be mandatory. All will be brought up during the event.

Why can't I talk when I get in there?
This would be supposing that you're late and +m is set. This usually means that it is between questions. +m is a special mode to be set on chat channels that mutes people without special privileges (voice or op). These are only given to some staff, to people choosing/answering questions and to others who have won the status in previous games.

How will typos be dealt with?
If they are understandable, they will be acceptable. I will allow you to fix typos in the 8 second window you are given to answer your question.

What happens to rule-breakers?
Loss of 10000 points in the game, loss of all Psybucks on the offender's forum account, and permanent bans from #psypoke, #psypokejeopardy, the forums, the main site, and the internet forever. In other words, don't do it. :O

I have no knowledge of computers. My exams would be finished on all three days. I'll decide when It gets closer to the date. But I still have school. So Saturday is a definite. Friday is a maybe depending on the time.

So could I use the chat channels on an IPad. Or an old, slightly broken laggy laptop?

For Thursday, I can be around from 6-9pm EST, so that's enough time for the game regardless of when it starts.
For Friday, I'm around from 6 to 8.30pm EST, so if it starts at 8pm EST, I won't be able to attend.
As for Saturday I won't be able to play at all.

...But don't cater to me. If the best time for everyone works out to be Saturday, then so be it.

I did some quick research and you can use IRC on an IPad but you have to buy the apps. If you're using the old laptop to access these forums then you shouldn't have a problem getting on IRC. A bad internet connection may be a disadvantage but I suggest trying to get into the #psypoke chat channel ahead of time to test it out/see if you can do it.

Now that I know I can use the IPad, I won't use the laptop, just cause its too much hassle getting it on. I have a good Internet connection (well, probably good enough).

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It's a protocol for real time text chat over the internet.

Basically you use an IRC client (an application on your computer/IPad/smartphone/etc) to connect to an IRC server (in this case irc.kbfail.net) that hosts chat channels/rooms that you can join once connected (such as #psypoke or #psypokejeopardy). Alternatively you can use the Java Applet but I don't think that'll work on an IPad.

Colloquy, LimeChat and Linkinus are three IRC client apps I found for the IPad however none of them are free. It is conceivable that there are free IRC clients for the IPad. I don't own any Apple stuff so try searching for "IRC Client" in the App Store or ITunes or whatever.

Friday and Saturday should be good for me, though I'm not sure as things can change in two weeks.

You know, I might just be able to take part in this one! I hadn't realized that there were IRC apps for iDevices, so I'll be able to purchase one of them to use. I would just use my PC, but technically, my entire existence on Psypokes is kind of a secret, and that would blow my cover to my over-protective parents, so... yeah. ._.

The only thing that might be a challenge for me is the timing, so I'll see if I can work it into my schedule once the date is decided.
