Light type was never mentioned, let alone confirmed, by any official source. It's only a fan rumour that's been around for years.

Found out it is a new forme of mewtwo. Instantly pissed.

I still can't see why people thought that it would be a new Pokémon.
The movie has Mewtwo's "amakening" in the title. The new form replaced Mewtwo in the poster. And it was said somewhere that we don't know the real Mewtwo (or something like that)

I think its toes are dumb but other than that, it's okay. I'm not ecstatic about it, but it could be a lot worse. Don't quite understand why it exists, though. All I ask is that this doesn't turn into 432502432 evolutions/pre-evolutions (especially the latter).

Hopefully there won't be any evo or pre evo for legendary Pokemon... (Imagine the rage...)
And yes, pre evos are REALLY useless... and I don't want to see already great Pokemon have an evo, like in gen 4 with Rhydon and Magneton.

Just face it, alternate forms are the new evolutions Mewtwo's faced the facts, and this is his way of staying with the times and showing everyone he's still cool.

Meh, forms are kinda cheap ways of making new stuff... but hey, i don't mind it. Mewtwo is madass, and more mewtwo means more badassery. Even if it's not Mewtwo... but still.

Though, I'd love for there to be some sort of hold item that gives Mewtwo his battle suit from the first movie. Or if Mewtwo got into the next Smash, and it be at some sort of alt costume.

That would be cool, as long as they dont use Pokemon logic and it turns into a Lvl 9 Metaknight at Lvl 1.

I think that it could be a good idea for a final smash; the suit could form around it, and it would then be a bit of a cross between Yoshi and Ness/Lucas's smashes, controlling Mewtwo as he flies across the screen shooting psychic blasts, and the suit would fall after the smash ends. Provided that they return Mewtwo to the new Brawl, which I'd be impartial to. If they include Lucario again, it would be pretty redundant, and there's already enough clone characters. (I'm looking at you, Star Fox crew)

But anyway, about the new form, I'm still annoyed that it's a new form, but hey, when the game actually comes out this November, are we even going to care about one stupid alternate form? There'll be a whole new region of Pokemon, some cool, some strange, and some downright stupid, but it'll be more than enough to make up for one controversial decision from Game Freak. So I, for one, am simply excited for X and Y to arrive.

My assumptions:

1) It'll be explained as some sort of dormant DNA within Mew/Mewtwo that emerge in whatever conditions the movie puts it under. No idea what the conditions will be in-game.

2) It will prioritize Speed in Awakened Forme, based on the movie having it face off against a Genesect with Extremespeed. Also slight SA boost. Severe drop in Attack to fund the Spd/SA increase.

A guess at its base stats:
Regular Mewtwo: HP 106, Atk 110, Def 90, SA 154, SD 90, Spd 130
Awakened Mewtwo: HP 106, Atk 60, Def 90, SA 164, SD 90, Spd 170

I think the costume idea is great.
In terms of stats, I'm thinking they'll just swap its special attack and speed.

To be fair, I don't see any other way to make realistic stat changes if you're not allowed to change the total. Speed should go way up because, again, they're hyping up this battle between it and an extremely fast Genesect, SA would be likely to go up if it has heightened psychic abilities, Attack would go way down to compensate. Maybe +20 to HP and -20 to Defense to account for its reduced size.

Then again, I'm be overthinking it and Mektar's guess that they'll just swap Speed and SA is closer to what will actually happen.
