Borrowing Amphy's idea on the old forums, I've decided I'll try to revive the song game. The rules are simple; I've put together a bunch (10 this time) of songs into a ~30 second clip. You have to guess what the songs are. We'll keep a running total of your score, etc. You get one (1) point for each of the songs you guess. So, if you can do a clean sweep, you get 10 points. I think that's a fair system, don't you?
For this first one, I tried to make it easy for a lot of people to score. There's a decent variety of music in this one, mostly focusing on guitar riffs, though not entirely (#9). Most of these clips are also intros. One more thing they have in common; most of them are popular songs/classics. If it soon proves I made this too hard, I'll give some hints.
The file is about 400KB in size, so hang in there 56K people. And, please, cache the file; geocities has very limited bandwidth.
Song Game 2.0, round 1

I'll be nice and not answer all the ones that i know, for the points does it have to be song title and artist?
- GNR Sweet Child of mine
- Blink182 All the small things
- (forget the artist name) Putting on the ritz/Instumble(sp)
Plus theres like 2 that have a remake does it have to be the original or would the remake be ok?

I did forget to specify that you SHOULD number them, so I'll have to give points no matter what this time. In the future, though, number them like Wuzzle and TCM did. And, yes, there are some songs that have been covered in here, but the covers sound different from the original, so you'll have to get the artist right. You should really include the artist anyway, as you've all done. So far, here's what we've got:
1.
2. Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton) - Layla (Eighteen)
3. Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (Eighteen)
4. Blink 182 - All The Small Things (DKM and Wuzzle both score due to my error)
5. Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (Eighteen)
6.
7.
8. Accidentally in Love (psycho_freak)
9.
10.
There are a few hints out there in other posts already, so the only one I give is make sure you get the right artist, and thus version, of covered songs. ;P
EDIT: After another 10 seconds of thought, here's another subtle hint: You can sum this mix up as "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"

Filling in some gaps:
1
2 Layla- Eric Clapton (or, if you want to be anal about it, Derek And The Dominoes)
3 Smoke on the Water- Deep Purple
4
5 Kashmir- Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page let Puff Daddy use the music to this a while back and he slaughtered it up good )
6
7
8
9
10. Black Betty- Spiderbait (although this song has been covered to all hell, so I'm just choosing the most recent cover)

Nope.. no it isn't. And, another quick hint; if you listen carefully, you'll realize that this version of Black Betty doesn't sound like the Spiderbait version, does it?

It's not Sweet Child O' Mine at all, DKM. Give it up ;P
Due to volume, or lack thereof on the part of clip #7, the file has been uploaded again, with a 7bD boost in that area. The file name remains unchanged. Song Game 2.0, round 1 (v.2)
EDIT: After further consideration *coughcoinflipcough* I have decided to accept Spiderbait - Black Betty. The artist of this version, which I believe is the original, is Ram Jam.
1.
2. Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton) - Layla (Eighteen)
3. Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (Eighteen)
4. Blink 182 - All The Small Things (DKM and Wuzzle both score due to my error)
5. Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (Eighteen)
6.
7.
8. Accidentally in Love (psycho_freak)
9.
10. Ram Jam - Black Betty (psycho_freak)

<font color=ACEACE>Well, I don't own any version of Black Betty on CD, cassette, or any other audio media device so I don't really know which version is which without the guy singing it. I have only heard the song once on Video Hits and then it got stuck in my head for weeks, all I really knew was the monophonic tune and most of the lyrics.

You can tell it's the original from 1977 by the sound of the guitar.
Well, I am confused over the unresolved ones.

OK, quick score recap first:
1.
2. Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton) - Layla (Eighteen)
3. Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (Eighteen)
4. Blink 182 - All The Small Things (DKM and Wuzzle both score due to my error)
5. Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (Eighteen)
6.
7.
8. Accidentally in Love (psycho_freak)
9.
10. Ram Jam - Black Betty (psycho_freak)
The file is here and I'm posing a hint here. This clue will play more popular parts of #1 and #7. #1 is the melody, #7 is that part that most people, and most of you, will recognise the whole song by. I'm not posting a clue for numbers 6 and 9, because if Mr. Saturn would decide to stop by, he'd have no problem getting them.
But, of course, I'm a twisted individual; the clues are not straightforward. Both of the clues are performed by myself, on my keyboard. It's encoded at a pathetic 80kbps (so it sounds terrible aside from my playing). And, just incase my terrible randitions of the songs and poor quality weren't enough, I was playing by ear; no music, just guessing intervals. So, rhythm is nonexistant. If you're still confused, remember the theme of this quiz, and try listening again. Just because I recorded it on the piano voice doesn't mean it's supposed to be a piano.....

Just re-reading the rules and thought a gigantically huge "why?" when it came to the points system.

1. Simple Plan - Addicted (leet for)
6. F-Zero - Big Blue (Jigglypuff)
7. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (Jigglypuff)
8. Accidentally in Love (psycho_freak)
9. They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (Not Constantinople) (Jigglypuff)
10. Ram Jam - Black Betty (psycho_freak)
I've also been rethinking the points system in light of how unexpectedly difficult this has been. Round one will come to an end now. All songs will be worth one point. Then, I'll turn round 2 over to TCM, who has volunteered to take it. I'll then get to work on round 3, which should hopefully be a bit easier...
Mr Saturn says he doesn't have a clue, and this topic's been live for a while. Answers can be found above. And, for number 7, listen to the song, near the end. "And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul...." Voice clip in bold.
Scores:
Darkkend: 1
Flaming_Wuzzle: 1
Leet For: 1
Psycho_Freak: 2
Eighteen: 3
(Jigglypuff: 3)
